A former intern for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation accused the former regional political director for Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) of rape.

The victim did not report the alleged rape to the police at the time, but later asked the chief of staff to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) to meet with her about her accusations. The victim was nineteen at the time of the alleged rape.

Rep. Lee, who was the the chair of the board of CBCF at the time, never met with the woman, and instead the victim was fired several weeks later.

Beto's excellent adventure drips with white male privilege

O'Rourke, 46, we are told, is "Obama, but white," because of his fundraising prowess -- he raised nearly $80 million in his loss to Sen. Ted Cruz. He skateboards! He listens! He connects on the internet!

And Jack Kerouac-style, he roams around, jobless (does he not need a job?) to find himself and figure out if he wants to lead the free world. This is a luxury no woman or even minority in politics could ever have.

O'Rourke is being criticized for his randomness. For his TMI'ing and for his "what do I want to do with my life" aimlessness.

But the fact that he knows he has the freedom to cast about as a campaign-in-waiting forms, shows how much of his political identity is predicated on being white and male.

CBC demands Sheila Jackson Lee step down over intern rape allegations

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) was told by the board of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation that she should resign as leader of the organization in a lengthy conference call with the board over rape allegations.

The CBCF is being sued by a former intern who says that a former employee raped her after they went out for dinner. The victim was 19 years old at the time of the alleged assault.

The intern alleges that she was fired after she asked for her rape allegations to be investigated.

O'Rourke, who has acknowledged his arrests for DUI and trespassing in the mid-1990s, ended his review with a caveat.
