I need to replace a dishwasher that came with the house. I don't know the "ins and outs" of dishwasher and want to be knowledgeable before I hit the stores. Any and all information will be appreicated. Thanks

Holden

hehe..nonsexual. =) Thats cute.

I love the AV by the way, Holden =)

While you're at it, you could also talk to friends and relatives to see what kind of dishwasher they have, how long they've had it, and how much they like it.

One major important thing to look for in a dishwasher is if you have to wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher or if it can mulch left over bits of food for ya.

Sure, no food makes it last longer, but then what the hell is the point otherwise?

Oh, never get into the conversation with my mother-in-law.

Take availability into consideration. Setting your heart on a top of theline Kenmore isn't goingtobe very practical if the nearest Sears is 100 miles away.

who in America - save for like 3 guys in Alaska - lives more than 10 miles from a Sears?

Do not even talk to me about appliances. Everything crapped out all at once last month. Had to buy stove, washer, dryer... Thank god it's not christmastime.

I do. The nearest Sears is about 15 miles away. :p

Sears was just an example. There are some very nice appliances with all sorts of nifty features that can be found on the Internet but either aren't available where you are, or will take months to be delivered because they're "on-backorder."

I recently replaced my freezer with my third choice because the first two choices couldn't be delivered in less than a week and I had frozen food thawing more every minute I delayed.

A dishwasher isn't as time critical to replace as a freezer is, but availability and delivery times are still an important part of the decision.

I have a Bosch and it's the best dishwasher I've ever used. So quiet you don't even know it's on when you're standing right next to it. I can load it to the hilt and be confident that every dish will come out clean, everytime.

So far

All the d/w that I have looked at have some method of grinding up the food. Some have sanitizing cycles and a few have one more step up "antibacterial" cycle. Just started looking and will look some more tonight and this weekend. I will let you know what I find.

Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to share their insight with me. It is greatly appreciated!

Sincerely

Holden

I live 37 miles from Sears, just out of free delivery range.

I've got the worst dishwasher ever. The StudMuffin.

my dishwasher makes a ton of noise, gets suds all over the kitchen floor and screams bloody murder everytime I make a large dinner. I cannot recomend the brand at all, but heck the boy needs to do something around the house
