I would suggest getting two: Doc Johnson small to start with and the medium when you are comfortable. Use a lot of lube and enjoy the "full feeling"

My recommendation is definetly to start with something small (and un-scary...).
Believe me, it's a lot better to start with something too small, that will tickle your interest and curiosity and leave you (or your woman) wanting more, than to start with something too large and painful, that will put you off.
