It's a Doc Johnson Medium. You think it will fit? I was worried about the condom breaking while it was inside of me. I always clean it very good with dish soap, but for some reason after a year of use it's started to burn, so I'm glad the condom idea will work.

You might consider making a doc appointment too if the burning sensation continues. You could have developed an allergy, got some form of infection or torn something. For your health I'd definately recommend getting it checked out.

I cant comment as authoritatively as others, but depending on what it is made of, the material itself may be causing the irritation. However, since you've had it for some time and have only recently started feeling the burning sensation, I'd try the cleanser first.

Lube?

Are you using different lube? That could be your problem it's best to use a water based lube while doing any anal. Also are you using enough lube more is better then not enough. Never use the ones that have a taste or heat up for anal, at least I wouldn't there is one name H2O lube and I find it the best for buttplug and toy use.

Some toys react differently with condoms so make sure they don't.

Most condoms should fit but I doubt that the plug is causing the burning. Burning or pain is normal for some people when it slides in. If you pull it out and reinsert it, it shouldn't hurt much at all.

Yes a condom will fit over rather easy. Maybe see a doc about a allergy you may have with regards to the burning.

I don't know what your plug is made of, Josh, but plenty of toys do break down and release chemicals (most famously phthalates) over time. This is especially common with jelly and soft plastic toys and other items.

If it's a porous toy that you've been using for a year or so (which means the toy itself is probably filled with bacteria, even though you've been good about washing the surface of it), you might want to consider getting a 100% silicone, glass or stainless steel plug. Those materials don't release toxic chemicals and can be sanitized easily in a variety of ways. The up-front cost is typically a little higher, but they should provide many years of safe pleasure if you take care of them.

SweetErika is absolutely right. Non porous or silicone is the only way to go.

Remember only use water base lubes with silicone toys.
