It was a cold chilly Christmas eve. The unseasonal Cold spell had gripped the country for several days now. The good news was that it was cold, but dry, snow free. And so, despite the early morning severe frosts, traffic for the most part was unaffected as those millions of people who had relatives to visit over the Christmas holiday would be unaffected. Adrian shivered as he waited on the doorstep of his friend’s home, Nigel and Claire. It had become tradition to spend time with them on Christmas eve, together with some of their other mutual friends. This year was no exception. Their hosts for this year was Nigel and Claire, but the door opened, as they were ushered inside and led down the narrow hallway to their dining area, where a buffet was semi laid out. They handed over their contributions, and soon Jane and Adrian were sipping away with their hosts and friends. They mingled, chatting, enjoying the fine wines, the good food and the excellent company. It wasn't long before Gilly came down the stairs, straight from working at a local Stables...
