Bush & Secrecy

The Clinton proposals would have led to improved medical care for the people of this country.
That is debatable. The plan had fundamental flaws, and socialized medicine - as the Canadians can point out - is not effective. I know of one emergency room nurse that left Canada and moved to Texas because he could over double his pay working in the same capacity. Top notch care and medical research cannot be acheived in a system with no incentives, and socialism is the antithesis of motivation.

As for secret planning sessions of new Presidents, I believe every one of them has conducted closed door review sessions of new policies. That said, I don't care for the idea of pillaging Alaska, and I sincerely hope it fails just like Clinton's health care plan.

Pillaging Alaska??? That's a little dramatic ;). All we want is a site the size of the Greenville/Spartanburg airport in an area the size of the state of South Carolina. And it's not the pristine waterfall covered paradise that the DNC ads depict. It's more like Iowa without corn.

They may only want a small piece now, but once the oilers get a taste, they'll be whining for more. I don't want to open the floodgates. Sometimes I just like the idea of leaving parts of the planet alone. I may support capitalism, but I like working in boundaries, too.

And you never responded to my question, WD. What's wrong with my image? Why do I need to replace her?

Maybe it's her eyes being bigger than her boomerang shaped breasts.

The point is this: no matter what spin is coming from the Oil'ers, we're not in such dire need of oil that we should destroy pristine country for two, maybe three months worth of energy. And it sets a bad precedent - once you drill in one refuge, why not drill in them all? It's bad policy.

This is about $$$. Make no mistake. Big Oil has been itching to get its fingers into off-limit areas, and it's not because they're so concerned with America's energy situation.

There's only so much oil left in the earth. Anyone who supports drilling over research into other alternatives is either a fool or an Oil industry exec.

Righto! This is the 21st Century!

When do we get our damn dilithium crystals or whatever the hell they are?
