The speeches are written in advance. The text is posted, not the "transcript". The posted speech doesn't show slips of the tongue, coughs, sputters, farts, asides and ad libs.

Just what's your problem with this you dip?

The unnamed source went on to add, "I suppose we could have looked at President Ford or Carter for that proof, but really, who pays that kind of attention. Well, I guess we know now".

Bush opponents worldwide have leaped on the chance to further disparage the President's intelligence, despite his well-studied college transcripts which would appear to prove them wrong. "He's an idiot", one detractor whose name was unintelligible because the drool from his frothing mouth has leaked over the nametag he wore said early Friday Morning. others were slightly more coherent. "This is a scandal beyond any we've seen since [Ronald] Reagan", said DNC resident goober James Carville. "By God, the man's as dumb as a box of hammers". When asked why he was surprised given the administration's constant admission, going back to the recent election, that President Buch was not a gifted public speaker Carville muttered a surly "No Comment".

Is what the White House posted the truth or isn't it? If it isn't the truth, then it is a lie. The White House say that Bush said one thing and he actually said another. That is a lie. You are making excuses for lying. Truth is an absolute. The transcript is a lie.

Some Republicans can not admit when there Bush has been lying. What will happen when Bush is impeached? Will they still make the same excuses for lying and coruption then? What happened to Nixon supporters?

let me get this straight........if i defend bush i'm a republican? it just so happens that i, a libertarian, feel that at this important time in our history........we stand behind our president.....(not to backstab....but to support). and did someone really mention impeachment? I think his point is that it's easy to sit back and criticize the trivial failings of those who lead. Those who lead are the ones who advance humanity by their aspirations and struggles and are not bothered by the detractors who criticize the mis-stated word or phrase.

Despite their missteps, they continue to lead us forward, to progress toward a better future, to advance mankind's general welfare even if they twist a phrase or distort a word here or there.

Perhaps I misinterpreted the intent of the quote but that's the way it came across to me.
