There is a exponentially growing number of cases in entirely unjustified acts of violence and brutality perpetrated by those in law enforcement, military, and the prison system.
Military and law enforcement careers tends to attract individuals with an extremely aggressive and domineering mentality. Many of these individuals suffer from something called sadistic personality disorder. A clinical mental condition which causes the afflicted person to derive amusement from inflicting physical, mental, and emotional harm upon other human beings.
All throughout the United States, police forces are being militarized and departments are seeking to recruit ex-military with basic training or actual war veterans combat experience.
Some US soldiers have knowingly massacred unarmed civilians (including women and children) in Iraq and Afghanistan and have gotten away with it scott free.
Anyone who has been to war and has seen combat is drastically psychologically altered for the rest of their lives, and not for the better. Many war veterans have sudden outbursts of anger and violence for absolutely no justified reason. The American police state seems to hand-select these people to perform the duties of civilian law enforcement and thoroughly train them beforehand that the public is not something that they protect, but rather an enemy that needs to be suppressed and dealt with. These people are very poor candidates for being public servants.
In some cases, law enforcement/security/military offers sadists the opportunity to injure, oppress, and bully people and get away with it.
Prison guards are the absolute worst sadists, there have been cases where inmates have been viciously beaten, raped, and even outright tortured by bully prison guards and then it has been covered up by the corrupt prison hierarchy and state penitentiary system.

I'm not trying to make any sweeping generalizations, 99% of those working in police/military/security are good people, but that percentage is quickly dropping as the government is replacing the "good cops" with people with histories of violence, psychological issues, and very ill-tempers.
Local/county/state law enforcement is being taken over by the federal government and department of homeland security, and states rights are being systematically eliminated. So good-willed and patriotic police officers will not be able to uphold the constitution/bill of rights and defy the horrific and un-american draconian orders of our militarized police state. They will be replaced by the irate roid-raging thugs whom are trained to see ordinary law-abiding citizens just trying to go about their daily lives, as potential terrorists who are guilty until proven innocent.
