My understanding is that bukkake was invented by Japanese porn makers to circumvent certain censorship rules. For example, it was illegal to show penetration, and genitals had to be pixelated. But showing semen, or naked women, was quite alright. So they came up with the bukkake concept as a way to create legal porn.

There was never any implication that people actually did it; at least not until they started seeing it in the films. It's a case of life imitating art!

I actually used to be totally turned off by it when I was younger,
