Bugs in the Literotica Program itself.

I noticed that the misspelled words and other errors(there are only a few) in my stories, have not been on my end.

It's from Literotica's end.

All my stories pass Microsoft Office "Editor Program" and are reviewed by my neighbor, who is a retired, published, college English Professor of almost 30 years.

Does anybody else have this problem?

Only read a few paragraphs down into your attachment and see a whole bunch of grammar and punctuation problems. Can't agree with your claim that what was published was not what you sent unless you also provide what you sent for comparison. If what was posted is close to what was sent, though, I'd ditch your college English professor backup. He's not doing a good job.

You're full of shit. I'll trust the program and real life actual English Professor.

Nice try though.

I took the time to look at the issue and you haven't provided enough to make any judgments on. I'm a real life actual book editor, vetted as such to this Web site, so in response to your kickback for me taking the time to look at your issue, I'll just suggest I'm not the one full of shit here. It is, after all, your problem/issue, not mine.

Design your own program and send it to me then.

Have no idea what you think that has to do with anything I've posted. Again, you posed an issue, I looked into it and didn't see anything evidencing what you were complaining about. And you got nasty about someone taking the time to look into your issue. Happily, it's your problem and now will remain so as far as I'm concerned.

You thought that was being nasty? I assure you that was me being far from.

Since your an editor, if you get your own program, I'll use it.

Do you think Microsoft Word Editor is a bad program then?

The easy way to do all of this is just a side by side screenshot of what you have in your word processor and what ended up appearing in that same section on literotica. If they're different - then there's something to figure out. If not, then there is no issue.

Side by side:

In my case, no difference, good to go. I do have a story update in pending right now - so if there is a NEW bug, I will know soon enough by doing this same test on it.

Where's the issue? Without seeing the issue no one can really even begin to have an idea of what that issue might be.

If the story is long and tedious to check manually...

  1. get 'Sublime text'
  2. Make two files in a folder.
  3. Copy-paste the text from your word-processor doc, and from the website into the two files.
  4. open the folder with Sublime and run a 'diff' - it will find every difference in the two files.
  5. make sure the differences, if any, that show up, are not a result of copy-paste issues failing to grab proper quotation marks or something. As in... once you see any differences, manually look at those very spots on the website and see what it looks like there.

Yep, that's what I suggested the OP needed to do to demonstrate the issue. Hasn't happened, though.

I have to be honest here, I don't think I'd ever know if this happened or not, I don't reread my stories after I posted them here. If I did I'd assume the typo was most likely mine, no one is perfect, in fact even a pro editor will tell you there is no such thing as perfect copy.

What I have noticed about any program, even grammarly, none of them are yet to be able to adapt to fiction and things like slang or writing dialogue true to how people speak, rather than 100% proper English.

This is helpful.
When this story goes up, I'll do this.
In my previous stories where this happened. I sent the screen shot from the "Preview & Publish" Section from my "Dashboard". where it showed no misspelled words, grammar mistakes, etc.
I understand that all programs have bugs from time to time and I've seen other authors complain of the same thing.

Yes, you did.
When this story is put up, I'll do a side by side comparison.
I've sent screenshots of errors before.
I understand bugs happen in any program.

I certainly don't know whether Microsoft Word Editor is any good or not, but your screenshot says 100% when there are still clearly issues with the text beyond the obvious colloquialisms.

I have seen Lit make various typographical changes to my submissions, but I don't recall textual changes of any sort.

Microsoft Office doesn't even recognize the word "cum". LOL.

It kept telling me to get rid of it.

Like I stated to Keith, I'm more than open to any other program to use.

I'm not completely "stuck in my ways" LOL.

I don’t use any program to help with the technical side of my writing. Just me and any reader who wants to do a public comment and/or pm me and I’m always grateful for any helpful advice.

Several years ago, as a new writer who didn’t know anyone on this site and didn’t know anyone in real life who could help me (because I didn’t want anyone to know I was writing salacious stories) I put my first stories in Story Feedback and I received a lot of excellent feedback from very good writers some of whom are still better than me.

I can see you’re an enthusiastic writer, with eight stories in the last five weeks, and it’s nice to see someone so keen. But you might consider doing what I did because, although I disagreed at the time with some of the advice, I later had to concede it was correct.

I think anyone who’s read any stories of yours, including myself, would agree you write very good stories and I believe you when you say you don’t read them after they’re published. Neither do I. If there is a mistake someone will tell me about it if it particularly bothers them.

But do you read them before they’re submitted? 🙄. (Before anyone starts getting at me you have said many times the spelling etc side of your writing can leave much to be desired lol).

Have I seen things on my Lit catalog that are somehow fucked up? Yes, very occasionally.

When I went back to check my Word doc, was it clear that the fuckup was mine? Yes, always.

I'll join the resounding chorus of replies here that...
1. ...sees flaws in the screenshot you posted, and
2. ...always takes full responsibility for anything posted under my name, and
3. ...hasn't seen anything like what you're describing, OP.

I did find a gitch in the way forum messages are posted, but that is for another message. I tested it, and MS Word did recognize cum, plus several others, including a few from George Carlin's dirty words. Except, it did change "splooge" to "splouge." Grammarly changed the latter to "splurge."

No offense taken, and I admit that the amount of work I put into proofing for lit and my for sale novels are vastly different. Lit is a free site, and although that doesn't mean you have to half ass it, I don't get crazy about it. I find that for the most part the readers fall under the first half of your comment, they like the STORY. I feel I create a good premise, my characters I try to make real, my strength has always been dialogue and vivid sex scenes, and that's what people come here for.

Then there's the back half that read an 8 page story and all they can come up with is I had a couple their/there in there. That's they're/there/their😋 right to express that, and I don't get upset by those comments because there is truth in them. But they're not paying for it, and their idea someone writing on a free site should be on par with mainstream popular authors is a bit of a reach.

For my horror novels I edit the best I can, have a beta reader who catches more, and pay an editor. If I were to send you one of those, you'd see the difference.

I'll go so far as to say I don't have the best attitude when it comes to 'this needs to be the best it can be' when it comes to here, but I'm honest about that and again, I roll with the armchair editors pointing things out to me.
