There's nothing wrong with you liking tj's poems. She's a real sweetie and a lot of people like her poetry.
Hopefully, no one will attack you or tigerjen. But some may attack the poem, and disagree with your opinions.

Wicked Eve........

Thank you for the support. I personally think its funny! I will defend my opion if needed. It's one of the thing that makes Lit so great is that variety. I also enjoy your work, Daughters, DebbieXXX, and many more. I can understand giving a author negetative feedback. You may not like their work and it's OK to say so. But, why attack the person themsleves

The boxing gloves are handy and I'll defend my opions. If it involves defending my opion of TigerJen, Wicked Eve, Daughter, DebbieXXX, etc:D :D :D

That proves I'm me!

thank you guys! :)

Jaded...you're really ready to defend each and every one
of us poets here? ;)

Hey, Tiger................

I defend my beliefs and have no problem in deflating some egos along them way:D :D :D

Or should we call it attitude adjusting

What a talented young lady. I read the poem as recommended by L.A.W. and then "In the White Room". Interesting history on that story. I look forward to reading more from your long list of works.

I hate to be the bad apple of the bunch, but I didn't think the poem is very good. It was full of overwrought sentiment; I knew where it was going after the first couple of lines. It reads as a narration and is very dry. Sorry, the poem didn't move me at all. We never get to the interesting things like: Why didn't this girl have a date? What is the source of her pain? That would have been nice to explore. Who wears bubblegum pink to the prom? Barbie that’s who, I hate Barbie! I realize I am new to the board but where is UP, Wicked, Daughter, Redwave, KillerMuffin or Drake. I hope I’m not out of bounds stepping into this thread but there I did it. I also have been reading and lurking here for awhile I know this is out of bounds also but I have to ask?
Tigerjen, how can I get your fan club? These folks vote you to the top and populate your thread. I never heard of them! No insult to you, I'm just talking about your poem. I have been working on a poem for a month and it is still not right and I came across Bubblegum Pink.

Camille....

Hey Camille!

I respect your opinion........I suppose for every two
likes, there is bound to be one dislike. daughter and I
traded email back and forth about this poem before
she went away on her trip not too long ago........yes,
I do have to agree there is sentimentality in "bubblegum"
but many people who have read it thus far have said
to me that it reminded them of long ago, remembering
high school....and different aspects of it i.e. rejection.

Its's funny how you mention Barbie wearing bubblegum
pink to the prom....but when I had my orginal dream it was
me (i am brunette, and certainly no Barbie-type) in that
pink dress.

When I wrote "Bubblegum Pink", it was a week after the
original dream had occurred.

in regards to my "fan club"......my secret is advertising;
meaning, I promote on both my profiles on AOL, on my
profile/personal ad on Nerve.com, and of course, here on
Lit. :) Even just random individuals who pass thru on Lit.
email me out of the blue saying they enjoy this poem or
that story.

So there ya have it, Camille. I do welcome your opinions
anytime, and as the old saying goes,"different strokes for
different folks." :)

Bubblegum

I hear you TJ,

I think I will stick to honing my skills and skip the self promotion.
I love attention as much as the next gal, but honesty is more important. I will keep an eye out for your new stuff and I would appreciate a comment from you when my poems hit the list.

Camille

I realize I am new to the board but where is UP, Wicked, Daughter, Redwave, KillerMuffin or Drake. I hope I’m not out of bounds stepping into this thread but there I did it.
I'm still new too. I'm also a real pussy. I've found all kinds of ways around saying what I really feel about this poem. I like tj, and I have realized that not liking her poem is not the same as not liking the poet.
I don't hate the poem, but I'm not crazy about it either. I was glad when I found out that tj had two new poems out. I read Bubblegum Pink over and over. I think what really bothers me is the phrase "Bubblegum Pink." I tried replacing it with just pink and it was better.
I know a lot of people can relate to this poem. I'm sure many enjoy it. And I do think many readers voted it to the top because they like tj. That definitely says something good about her.
It seems that at this site, it's a combination of several factors that gets your poem on the top list. Your poetry, your likeability, and getting noticed on the boards. tigerjen reminds me of Madonna! lol She knows how to sell herself. And people like that are always going to be the most popular, and their work is too.
If you notice, a lot of my poems hang around on the top list. A few do not deserve to be there, in my opinion. But my name is starting to become better known, and readers are more likely to read a "Wicked Eve" poem than an "Unregistered" or "I'm a Newbie" poem. And realizing that, I try harder with my poetry.

Like a virgin

Wicked okay,
Popularity be dammed! If I have to coo and flirt and fawn screw it. That to me is not self-promotion it runs closer to another profession. I'll take your model; Risia's and SA Storm's you three seem to swap the #1 spot the most. I will try to write good poems and let the chips fall 15 or 20 serious votes from my peers beats 60 back slapping pals who don’t frequent the board and contribute to the writing community here. Besides I know you get a big rush when one of your good poems hits the top spot.

Cammie

Camille

You could coo a little. lol
Actually, tj has told me before that she posts to other boards with links to her poems. That's not a bad idea if you want to get read.
Who would have thought there would be so much excitement and intrigue in the world of Poetry! Ohhh... my nipples are hard. They really are. lol :D
By the way, I wasn't trying to say that tj was selling herself in a bad, trashy way! lol I just mean that she gets her name and her work out there for the public to see. She would probably make a good celeb. I can see her doing talk shows. :D

Can't Coo

Just can't seems to get my lips to make that shape.
Your nipples are hard! You want Me and the menace to come over. LOL

Certainly I want to get read? But to what end? Not a slam on TJ but a bunch of folks coming from outside the board to vote me up why? Being seen is great but you gotta have something to show.

Cammie trying to coo (sounds more like a donkey braying)

Camille

You've been nothing but trouble since that night at the auction when you tried to run me down with your cyber car!
I've seen what you can do. You're good. So, keep writing that good stuff, and I know it'll get noticed for that reason.
But it really wouldn't hurt if you showed a little leg. Or peek of something. Maybe flash the readers? Promise dirty emails in exchange for votes.
tigerjen, after reading all this, take a deep breath... and coo! lol And remember, all this fuss is good publicity. ;)

LOL

Oh you two gals, Wicked, don't try to explain to Cammie. She's still new. The secrets of the Jen are strange to her. Those who have witnessed this phenomenon have accepted them as an "Unsolved Mystery."

Just tell her the truth. Next to the pryamids there is the Jen Sphinx strangers come from miles away to gather, vote and then they disappear.

I got a couple new ones coming shortly....BTW ;)

Wow...I come back from my overnight shift at work, and I find out I'm being
compared to Madonna.....wow......I think that is one of the best compliments I've ever
been paid, not just on Lit, but overall........hey, I know I'd be a ham doing the talk
show circuit.....yukking it up with the gals on "The View" I can see it now! In terms
of being a celeb......celebrities do have their fans but do realize that there are those
out there who aren't fans of them, and I realize that. Of course I am like Madonna
in terms of I want the whole world to like me, but in reality that is not possible.

And to put this out there, its the truth that I am just online on AOL minding my
own business and I get IMs out of the blue from time to time saying "Oh I go on
Literotica regularly" or "I saw your profile; where I can find your poems/stories?" and
so on. I am very surprised on the amount of people that have some knowledge of
Literotica.com......I didn't even know about it until July '01 when I found an ad for it
in of all places, in Penthouse Letters magazine (my first copy that I bought!)! And the
rest is history.....I do believe in getting the word out.....I am big on publicizing, have
used that tool in my real-time life many times (i.e. for a organization that I belonged
to back in college for my major), and the more one talks it up and posts up, the more
people will see and know. I wasn't made into a star overnight ya know :D

On the otherhand, I do see a nice garden variety of poets on the toplist......and one
thing that was started by U.P. I believe was "The New Poems List" thread, which
promoted/reviewed new poems that just recently been posted in general for the first time,
thus even promoting brandnew writers or ones that haven't been as promoted much.

Unmasked Poet.....you're cute...a "Jen Sphinx"?

Sorry for the babble......but I got a little bit excited over here......
Now I do need some sleep!

tigerjen

newly posted poetry

First, please picture me bowing repeatedly and moaning..."I'm not worthy..". I am in total awe of the folks in here and of their work.
So it is with jangling nerves I ask for opinions and critique of my poem "Blind Love". Bear in mind that the poems you see in Lit are my first attempts.
I have to admit that I think I threw them to the wolves before polishing them. Then again, one can spend too much time buffing...
Thanks for hours of pleasure, not guilty at all...:)
