BROWNS REQUIEM by James Ellroy
5 starz
Its Ellroys first novel. I give it 5 starz but its all over the fuggin place. Its worth the candle but I cant say more for it. It aint boring, tho. It aint uplift, either.
Fritz Brown is an ex-cop who makes his living repossessing cars until a caddy named Fat Dog Baker hires Fritz to tail and old Jew who lives with Fat Dog's sister, Jane, a spinster cellist. Then the adventure follows. The end totally sux but not for any legitimate critical reason, it just sux, because its just more of the malaise that comes since page one. But its noir. No happy ending.
Lotsa graphic violence.
