I just love my brown crayons.

My fave blues group in the early 70's was Savoy Brown. All their albums where names of different shades of brown. I loved their album "Raw Sienna."

I'm kind of partial to that nice, smooth copper-brown, myself. ;)

PMSL!!!

(okay, I'm showing my age by laughing at that)

Brown's ok, unless you're expecting red. Went to buy a rug from Crate & Barrel that was called red in the catalog, and looked like it was different shades of red squares in the catalog, but turned out to be shades of brown in the store.

I know- I clicked on this link, it said "redskin hide" and it wasn't red at all! I don't get it? Don't people know their colors:confused:

Flashback time - saw them in 1970 when they were the warm up band for the Stones. Bought "Raw Sienna" a couple of days later, but that piece of vinyl was lost many years later when the woman I was living with decided I didn't need it any more.

Shortly thereafter, I decided I didn't need her anymore.

First snog of my life -- to "Stay while the Night is Young" from Raw Sienna. I had to wait seven years before I got to Level 2 and beyond. But that snog was pretty good.

Kim Simmonds plays in my neck of the woods quite often, as his fellow guitar player hails from around here. Still carrying the Savoy Brown name proudly. Saw them with Foghat at the Academy of Music in NYC, but later than the time you refer to, on the Jack the Toad tour. That was when they really had a revolving door membership. I thought they peaked with Street Corner Talking. Half the people reading this weren't even born then and suddenly I feel very old....

Downloaded their whole back catalog from WinMX.

Many years later, after hearing that "Golden Brown" by the STranglers referred to herion, did I realise what the name Savoy Brown was probably about. I suppose I was a bit naive in my early teens. I mean with song titles like "Needle and Spoon"....

Staggering down memory lane here made me go into the garage and root out an old import LP of theirs, 'Shake Down' circa 1967, when they went by the moniker Savoy Brown Blues Band. They had a black lead singer back then and all the songs are old blues covers. Never gave much thought about the name before, but I guess you're right.

That's funny. I found out that they use chocolate in movies in place of blood! Chocolate!!!! And our eye tells us it's red?!
