Brother and Sister living together as Man and Wife

Don't know if it's ever been written, but I imagine it has: a brother and sister who love sleeping with each other, but don't want to be looked down on by society. So they move to a new town (new country, maybe?) where nobody knows them, and present themselves as husband and wife.

Other than the obviously hot incest sex that would ensue, where would the drama come from? Maybe somebody from their past recognizes them? Maybe a relative drops in? Maybe someone notices the family resemblance? I'm not sure where to go with it, but it sounds like a fun setup.

I know I've seen a few I/T stories of brother+sister and father+daughter living as married -- I even wrote one of the latter, That's My Girl. I think the usual scenario has the drama happening up-front; once hooked up, they live in obscurity with either no meddling relatives or nobody the wiser -- Happy For Now ending.

I do have a brother+sister 'marriage' in A Taste of Spirits but again, the drama is before, not after, and none of the other players really care. I'll deal with a brother+sister thing in more detail in the sequel to A Taste of Pears and CIder but a female cousin is in there too; they can all pretend to just be sharing quarters because they ARE family. My other brother+sister stories have not really gone into long-term layouts; I'll have to think about possibilities.

The expected drama would be as you suggest -- relatives or acquaintances or the media might catch on. Your McGuffin is Secrecy. Does the drama revolve around concealment? If not, what else? Pregnancy and birth defects? Job or life tensions threatening to tear them apart? Unfaithfulness? BDSM fun that goes too far? One of them goes nutz? A terrible accident occurs?

IMHO the dramatic possibilities in Incest break down into:

* It is taboo and illegal and must be concealed -- unless nobody cares.
* The possibility of birth defects -- but the baby can be a plot point, too.
* (Un)usual vicissitudes of life drop in to mess up incestuous happiness.
* More and more relatives get involved until the overloaded bed collapses.

Of course they can always be transformed into banana slugs, and eaten. Cf BIG BANANA (linked in my .sig). THAT takes care of the sibling relationship.

One story twist: interracial incest. They are half-siblings; their mother was indian, his father was white, her father was black. They look B&W. They grew up apart, met, fell in love, married, and only their mother knows. There's no reveal here, little drama, sorry. Unless they're in redneckville where interracial marriage is hated but incest ain't no big thang. Then their sibling marriage is accepted.

Untwisted: Sister has always cared for her year-younger brother and (unlike reality) they were always nice to each other. They bonded as best friends. Maybe they legally marry in New Jersey. No problem. Otherwise -- Do they drop off the friends+family radar? Do they pretend to just share quarters non-sexually? Why should someone who didn't know them earlier suspect anything?

As for guilty resemblance: My partner and I have been mistaken for siblings. Hey, we could exploit that!

The direction would have to be up to the specific author, I think.
Terms were already established--help bedding the babysitter's brother. Or father. Or uncle. Heck, brother/husband/sister/wife managed it, they ought to know how to go about it, right?
Direction? I'd head for the heavy sex, myself, but that's just me...maybe a little tragedy at the end: sadder but wiser sort of thing. But definitely sex-heavy.

Ah, then we can't have cousins in the fun. But I've used the pnoto-album reveal in my BLACK & WHITE stories. It's a good mechanism.

The understanding among my friends is that a "Kojak Moment" is one where you manage to find a parking spot directly in front of where you're going, instead of two blocks away.
