It’s that time of year again.
With a wide grin, I fold up the hire notice in my back pocket I look at the property I’ve rented for the next few weeks, although its real purpose won't happen until the very end of October.
And this year, it’s certainly more than a house.
I felt the times have changed and so a new venue was in order.
And so this charmingly spooky castle, in a misty valley, will be the setting for my annual Hallowe’en party. From the tour the agent gave me I know it’ll be perfect. Creepy corridors and hundreds of rooms including a large ballroom for dancing and plenty more besides.
The previous four Hallowe'ens have a host of spookily brilliant memories related to them, I'm sure this year will be no different, and I want to make sure I give my guests time to work on their costumes if nothing else!
The grin on my face growing every second, I hand a stack of handwritten envelopes to the driver that brought me, addressed to any and all who frequent the SRP lounge. He’ll post them for me when he gets back to town.
The invitation inside is carefully handwritten to match the envelope and reads as follows…
As his car pulls away and drives noisily over the cobbled bridge, I head inside the castle.
I need to work out just how many pumpkins I’ll need - besides those waiting at the Autumn Retreat for me to collect, how many hundreds of candles and lanterns to light the windows and rooms beyond the heavy oaken doors...I’ll need streamers and fake cobwebs to add to the real ones hanging down here and there. Not to mention all the carriages I want to book in order to bring my guests the last few miles down twisting lanes to the party.
There’s food and drink to arrange and of course, there's my own costume to think about…now, what to be this year....

HAPPY HALLOWE’EN!
You are cordially invited to attend Britwitch’s Hallowe’en Party!
The party will run from Wednesday 29th October - Sunday 2nd November 2014
There will be suitably spooky fun running both day and night for the whole week so do drop by if and when you have chance…it’s my favourite holiday and I couldn’t let it go by without doing something!
Hoping to see you and your chosen costume there!
Best wishes,
Britwitch
P.S. Feel free to bring anything to party that you like and any and all help is welcome to help me prepare beforehand!
