Brits/Canadians/All Non-U.S.: Wash. Post Live Online wants opinions on U.S. election

Went there.

By the time I'd been through the registration process and sent my comment the discussion had closed.

Most of the responses came from within the US.

Let me make this simple for you.

Bush approval rating in France is 5%.
In Germany, it's 6%.

Since what the Anerican admin does affect the rest of the world, the world citizens should have a vote each. There are reasons behind people blowing themselves up.

The discussion was based on an article in The Guardian (UK) newspaper suggesting that UK Citizens in Ohio were campaigning against Bush.

My reaction if people from Ohio were trying to influence my vote in the UK would be irritation. 'Who do they think they are?'

Approval ratings of President Bush abroad is likely to be coloured by opinion of the US foreign policy as a whole. He is the President and therefore any unease with US policies will reflect on him.

I suspect that the same lack of approval would apply if a Democrat were to be the President - the rating reflects the office, not the party.

Prime Minister Blair has similar disapproval ratings. In UK equivalence he would be a Democrat NOT a Republican (although parallels have to be forced because UK Conservatives support things that would make Republicans spit blood and call down anathemas from on high). How many Republicans know that Tony Blair is a 'pinko' in their terms?

They did a poll in Canadian newspaper and it was 80% for Kerry, or against Bush.

In B.C., the present U.S. admin is resented because of it's neglect and arrogance with NAFTA. Despite two intenational rulings, they still won't lift tariffs of lumber. Lost a lot jobs up here and housing costs are up nearly 20% down there.

It's a good thing we don't have just 2 parties up here because we have developed a habit of voting one party out of existence when we don't like them.

Don't listen to us. We still think you made a mistake getting rid of Carter.
