Dutch women's breasts bigger than ever, survey finds

AMSTERDAM — More and more Dutch women are buying D cup or larger-sized bras, it was reported in Het Financieele Dagblad on Wednesday.
According to a European marketing survey conducted by GfK FashionScope Benelux, D cup purchases have increased in the Netherlands to 24.7 percent, an increase from last year's 23.6 percent and 22.1 percent in 1999.
Some 2,500 Dutch women participated in the survey, which covered seven European countries, excluding Germany. Only British women beat the Dutch in D cup bra purchases, with 36.3 percent.
"We do not exactly know the cause, but we think that hormones — from contraceptive pills or food — might play a role. Otherwise it is difficult to explain why British and Dutch women have the biggest breasts. They are not the fattest women in Europe," Rob Brand from lingerie company Triumph told Het Financieele Dagblad. "You also see more slender women with a small waist in a D cup."
About 30 percent of Dutch women, aged 30 to 39, purchase D dup or large bra sizes, it was reported. This number may be influenced however by the larger percentage of pregnant women in this age group.
