[SOLVED] Brilliant story; forgot the title!

I read this a few months back; I'm not sure if it was on Literotica or on Storiesonline. The author may be on both websites... Can anyone help me identify it, please?

I remember the plot pretty well:

A teenage boy (about 17 or 18) is a high school athlete who plays (american) football. He has a row with his girlfriend, and he feels like they've split up. His father is a really pushy man who is re-living his glory days through his son by making him play football - the son is reluctant. The father is a rich bank manager. With his breakup being fresh on his mind, he gets into an argument with his father, pushing his father's buttons on football, resulting in an ultimatum from the father that the son cannot live with him if he doesn't want to play.

The father doesn't believe his son will do it - but the son runs away. He leaves behind his mother, his sister, his ex-girlfriend and his father. He hitchhikes with a truck-driver until eventually he hits some town (I wish I could remember it because I'm sure I'd have better luck searching on Google! - it may be in Iowa or somewhere, but I may be wrong). It's the middle of winter. He cannot find a job anywhere but at a farm where there is an older widow(?) (possibly her husband died in the Iraq war). As he walks to the farm, he's nearly run over the woman in her car, because he could not tell where the road was since it was snowing heavily.

She takes him, nurses him and he convinces her to let him work for her just for room and board. He slowly falls in love with her, and eventually they embark on a relationship, resulting in a marriage and a young daughter. Sadly, this only lasts a few years ... she dies of cancer or something! She dies in his arms in their bed...

The story then takes the protagonist back to his home-town. He has to patch up his relationship with his sister, apologise to his father who is also genuinely sorry, and he re-ignites his relationship with his former girlfriend... this is helped by the young daughter somehow figuring out that the former girlfriend is the right woman for him. Apparently she had a dream or something long before they met, and she drew a picture of her (I may be wrong).

I would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me what this story was called! It was a great story! I loved it!

found it!

Thanks to a very helpful person I found the story I was looking for.

If anyone's interested, it's called "There is a Reason" by A.A. Nemo.

The description of the story by the author is:
"Can a young man find love again after botching the first go round? Sometimes running away leads to unexpected joys and sorrows"

If you do a search on Google using the story description you can find it pretty easily.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation. I'm enjoying it so far. And thanks to whomever found it for you.

Ah! I'm sorry about the plot spoiler in my description but I know the story is so much more and I'm glad you're loving it! :D
