Breasts: A New Theory

Interesting theory. I wonder who gets to do the comparison studies?

"Because breasts don't develop until puberty, biologists have suggested that they help the female attract a mate and keep him interested in her welfare and that of her children. Those with larger breasts were more successful, the theory goes, and produced more offspring."

More successful in getting a mate, or having sex to produce more off spring? Sheesh...

"Partly because of the obsession with breasts as a sex object, there are big, big gaps in our knowledge of how they actually work," says Gillian Bentley, a biological anthropologist at University College London."

I'm wondering how much more we need to know about the function of a breast?

I'm sorry...

I don't see this a either new or theoretical. You only have to nurse an infant, or watch one being nursed, to realise that this is what breasts were designed for.

Similarly, crook your arm and imagine an infant in it. The infant's mouth is ideally positioned to latch as it lays nestled against you (assuming you have female breasts, of course.)

It's a fantastic design.

Bri, as a lactation consultant, I have to agree...who the hell pays for these studies anyway??

I don't think you need nice tits to keep a man interested in your Welfare. I mean I really think that monthly check is enough.

MY posting is an excerpt from the article, not my thoughts.

It's those damn male anthropologists. They think everything on a woman's body is designed to attract them. Even in the intellectual world men think with their groin.

I know silly!

I was joking anyway, I know what the passage MEANT. The first time I read it though I was like HUH....oh.

~snickering wildly~

Oh man...
and being perennially hot and ready helps, too

You know what I've just realized? Breasts are for the kids, for feeding right? Well how come Daddy always plays with what's meant for the kids??? Breasts, the train set, toy race cars, video games...the list goes on and on!!! LOL

Dunno. People who have never crooked their arm and imagined an infant nestled in it, I guess :)
