A report of 20 Marines and former Marines suffering Breast Cancer, all who spent time at Camp LeJeune, a Marine Corp Base in North Carolina, led me to do a little looking online.

My son-in-law, my daughter and her children were all at Cherry Point, NC, not far from Camp LeJeune.

The Veterans Administration refuses to pay for treatment as a connection to a source of the cancer from the area has not been confirmed.

I had never before heard of breast cancer affecting men, but it does, even if at a much lower percentage than women.

Gee, thanks; something else to worry about.

Two things, Ami.
First the water supply at Camp La J was from a contaminated well. It was the same well used since WWII. The contaninates are somewhat foggy as to actual chemical names. Most likely petro products.

Secondly, yes, breast cancer in men. It happens about 10% as often as in females but it's not that uncomon.

Was all news to me that men could suffer that as well. The report on CNN noted several known contaminants in the water, the only one I remember is Benzine, the others had big long names that didn't stick and I did not locate the CNN report online.

Mildly irritating was the VA response after seeing several of the shirtless men missing a portion of their chests.

thank you...

I remember reading that Harry Belfonte, the singer had breast cancer. I collect 50's 60s music and I was doing some research when I stumbled on the info. It was an unpleasant surprise.
