I just want to say that I admire anyone who has the guts to post here if English isn't their native language. I think it is sometimes hard to post here at all, especially for the first time. You worry what people will think of you, if they'll respond to what you said, or even worse, shoot you down for it. Add to that the knowledge that you'll most likely make several mistakes in spelling, syntax, grammar, etc.! I think that's courageous.

I took Spanish in high school and to this day am a big chicken about using my meager skills, mainly because I'm afraid of sounding like an idiot.

So, take heart, people. Some people here will make fun of your flawed, but valiant attempts to communicate in English, but I applaud you.

Thanks !

Your kind words are very much appreciated ...

I sometimes really wonder if I make sense or if what I thought I read in a post was really what had been said, specially because some of the vocabulary used about and around these pages isn't your ordinary school and classroom stuff (add the "slang" terms and national expressions and you sure got me confused).
Plus then add that some of the subjects covered here - like movies, soap operas and the Jerry Springer show are things I for one can't contribute to 'cause they will only be here 6 month later

... and as for Jerry Springer ... never knew what it was till I once watched it while visiting friends in the Netherlands *g*

So add to the embarrassment of missing words the missing "cultural background" ... and voilà - that's me :D

Unfortunately now Whispersecrets, I will even less care for my spelling so that means you may have opened Pandora's Box so to speak and I will even be more daring in my rambles *winks* but then again , I don't recall EVER having been laughed at for my "inventive" English (making up my own words *lol*) around this site.

WhisperSecret.

I thank you kindly for your kind words.

I have to admit that I don't always pay to much attention to what I write here, but I do try my best to make it sound right.

However I have sometimes started a post or a thread, and since I couldn't get it to sound the way I wanted it to, then I didn't submit it at all.

So if any of you ever read something I post, and don't really understand it, just drop me a note, and I'll try to explain it another way.

I guess the best compliment I can give you two would be that until I read it here I never would have guessed that english was not your mother tongue.

Whispersecret I actually wholeheartedly agree with you on this one.

I am lucky to also talk to two of these lovely men Privately, Xander being my best friend and all. They are brilliant in every way, always making you laugh, and having fun.

I think that as Never stated, these people do better than some of the english speaking people on here. At least you can understand what they are trying to say or ask.

Well done Whispersecret for bringing this up.

*Standing and clapping* Well done to all our Non English speaking friends.:)

uhhhmmm *blushing delicately*

Why, thanks for the compliments ... and I hope this DOES encourage more people to come and post, adding some more of the multi-culti touch to the BB, thoughts and ideas from other cultural backgrounds never hurt, right?

I just would be curious how many other people that haven't stated any "origin" in their profiles are out there of "non-english" speaking countries...

just fancy my curiousity?? Please??

Thank you Whisper, Nicole and all the rest of you.

What are you saying to that Shyguy and Hecate. That means we don't suck that bad eh :)

Seriously thanks, it's always nice to know that people can understand what you're saying.

*lol* well - we will see...

*g@Xander* yeah - looks like we are making sense at times (and nope, it isn't only a question of being capable of handling the language itself *lol*)

I sent my first audio thingy to Laurel a little while ago ... and we will see about people understanding me if it ever gets up. *chuckles* good thing you can't "hear" my accent when typing as opposed to when talking ...

...but then again *winks*... I have been told it is "kind'a sexy" and I bet so is yours Xander (Hey, Angelique and Nicole, what do you say??)...as for ShyGuy's accent ... mhhhhh *giggling* 'nuff said :D

Since I've heard her voice myself, I can just say that it's right! As somebody else from this board told me: "Hecate has an incredibly sultry and hypnotic voice", and yes I totally agree with her!!

Ohh Hecate dear, now you're making everybody wonder what have happened! But don't worry, I won't tell! ;) ;)

Agreed

I agree the English skills of those on this board who speak it not as their native tongue are amazing. But there's an excellent example of how the rest of the world is "better" than America. We speak English and expect everyone else in the world to learn our language if they want to speak to us. In Europe, English is taught from a very young age in addition to native tongues. I've met more Europeans who are fluent in 3 and 4 languages, and I don't know any Americans who come close (although I am sure there are some).

Now stop it Nicole. I ain't got a sexy voice C'mon!!!! :)

Cheyenne. Yes that'd true that English is taught, at least here in Denmark, from a young age. I think I started to learn English from age 8 or 9. German from age 10. That's basic schooling here.
And I've been fortunate enough to hold a job that also allowed me to learn a bit swedish and Norwegian.
I'd like to think myself as fluent in English. But I bet if I ever had a conversation with Hecate, she'd know that I actually suck at German.....Big Time. And swedish and Norwegian. LOL

Ah well...You can't do it all. :)
(Du kann nicht alles tunnen :))
(Man kan ikke gøre det hele :))
(Man kan Inte gjöre det hela :))
(On ne sait pas tout faire :))

Ok, Nikki...I have to agree with you here, hon. Yes, Xander has an incredibly sexy voice.

ShyGuy...did you just quote me above? ;) I've had the pleasure of hearing Hecates voice, as well, and the only words that do come to mind are sultry and hypnotic. Your audio submission will be a big hit, I'm sure, hon. :)

Yes Angelique, I did quote you. You said it so perfectly when you told me, and I couldn't come up with a better description myself. So I stole yours! lol

And I agree with you, I'm sure her voice files will be a big hit!!! But I might be a bit biased though ;) lol
