Brandon emboldens Putin - War moves closer to NATO borders

The line is currently set at crossing into NATO territory.

Zelensky keeps calling for no fly zone additions, though from the news reports, Russia isn't flying much and it's clear that enforcing such a thing would involve an incursion into the country....that would easily be a line crossed for Putin to use.

I think the position of restricting the war instead of expanding it is a solid one to take.

Sadly, a crazed lunatic is the one guiding this entire conflict, so any attempt at logic is truly not an effective prediction method

Is it helpful announcing to Putin what the US will not do?
They've given the line to cross. What the US and NATO will not do has been known for some time.

Whether it's helpful or not...I don't really know. What we have done well is clearly shown what Russia has done and is doing to try to falsely rationalize it's actions. And we brought the alarms when Russia was prepping for the invasion, even as the rest of the world did not believe it would happen.

Anything that rightfully applies the blame on Putin is a good thing.

Who is "Brandon" and why does he live rent-free in so many minds of the poor and unfortunate?

I’m not sure what the US and NATO will not do has been known for a long time. Was it known that MIGs would not be sent to Ukrain? At one point, Blinken said NATO had the green light to send them. I hope Putin fears a NATO response to a chemical weapons attack. I hope he fears the potential of heavily armed NATO forces entering Ukraine to provide humanitarian assistance if Zelensky requests it. At this point, he doesn’t seem to fear much.

Yah, having the US sign onto the Chemical weapons ban may assist with the teeth on that response.....we should do that.

Ukraine is basically his for the taking of he wants to deal with the financial fallout. He can try Poland next and see what happens from there

I don’t think he does give a damn. When the US President telegraphs weakness, why would he give a damn?
Always curious to hear how any President would've done something different.

Attacking Moscow in retaliation, perhaps....

You don't need to attack Moscow, you just need Putin to believe you'd attack Moscow.

Putin knows nobody would attack Moscow, as does everyone else with a brain cell. Not now and not before now and not after now

If that's the case, why didn't he take Ukraine before Brandon shuffled into office?

You think that he believed Trump would attack Moscow in response to an invasion of Ukraine?

Did you believe that?

I believe he said it and it's obvious from his (in)actions that Putin believed it enough not to risk it not being a bluff.

Oh, so I missed Putin's invasion of Ukraine while Trump was in office, did I?
i was commenting on your belief of the reasoning. Youre saying that Trump would defend a non-NATO country by declaring war on Russia.

but correct...he did not invade during the previois administration

Trump did defend a non-NATO country: He sent them weapons to fight Russia off in the event of such an invasion. That punctuated his threat to Moscow. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Russians are dead and their equipment shattered because of it today. When Russia invaded during the Obama/Biden years, they were sent blankets and MREs.

If the US and NATO stand by and let Putin starve out millions of Ukrainians that will be a dark day in our history. We as a nation will have to live in shame for not responding to crimes against humanity. This is so similar to 1939, it didn't fair well back then and it won't today. No one wants nuclear escalation but this carnage has accelerated beyond NATO and Russian borders to the very existence of mankind and what we will accept as humans. There comes a point that standing up to evil is the only choice we have.

All the western leaders holding nuclear capability need to, IN UNISON, issue an ultimatum to Putin that an attack on humanitarian or weapons aid will be considered an attack on NATO and will result with a severe retaliation and Biden needs to be the face of that ultimatum. Need to make it very very clear to Putin that any escalation will result in the possible destruction of Russia and put a target on Putin himself. We should be prepared to mine Black sea ports and to station an enhanced armored brigade with all the appropriate ancillary attached and detached units in Odesa along with AWACS, F-22s and F-35s

Ukraine is not a member of NATO but they are a member of the Human Race.

Need to warn Putin that his 16,000 mercenaries from Syria will be an escalation and will result in a no fly zone and we will take out those mercenaries.

We don't need to draw a red line, what we need to do is accelerate responses as needed. This is more than about borders, there;s a moral question here.

Need to up the anti!

If Brandon wanted to do that, the time for it was last summer, when Putin was massing troops. Sending them now is okay, but it's just that much harder to get them in the right hands and then to train those hands to use them properly.

If Biden wants to prevent this in Taiwan, he should be sending Taipeii the nastiest things we have in our arsenal.

Biden sent them weapons as well.

There was never any possible chance that Trump would attack Moscow.

I question our preparedness to respond to article 5

This was my final comment after corrections

We don't need to draw a red line, what we need to do is accelerate responses as needed and keep Putin guessing. If Putin launches a tac nuke then we should scramble an F-22, lob a b-61A12 right over the same area or over the Black sea. This is more than about borders, there's a moral question here. Putin is a larger version of Slobodan Milosevic

Biden should be quietly putting our units in an advanced state of readiness and moving things around.

I guess I'm crazy.

You want escalation when I don't think there's support in any real way for it Americans don't want world war 3. A large portion doesn't even think we should have a role in our response.

I don't think there's an easy way forward for anyone....Putin is driving the car and he doesn't seem to care about much.

I honestly agree with your position, but until we see world war as a real possibility, we will always do whatever we can to avoid making it one on eggshells

RWCJ last week: "Biden is going to blunder us into World War 3!"
RWCJ today: "Why is Biden stupidly TELLING the Russians that he doesn't want to fight World War 3?"
