I'm going to be in Boston next weekend (19th and 20th). I'm very excited because it'll be the furthest I've ever been from home AND the first time I've ever seen an ocean. Plus, the only other U.S. town I've seen is Port Huron, and that was only because my ex-boyfriend had a thing for Ponderosa.

SOOOOOO... I know Boston is full of interesting stuff, but considering the very short time I'll be there, what do I HAVE to see??

I've never been to Boston, so couldn't tell you the most important things to see, but just wanted to tell you to have a GREAT time, and enjoy it all! And you're going to love the Ocean, one of my favorite things to do. Have fun!

Having lived and worked in Boston, and since you don't have much time, I would suggest walking the Freedom trail, And visiting Quincy Market. Get to the Boston Common if you can, and If you are lucky to get tickets to Fenway Park, by all means go. That takes care of most of the historical points of intrest and shopping....Enjoy

Boston Common is a must. Also the cemetary on Bunker Hill (by Fanueil Hall). If you find yourself in Jamaica Plain in south Boston, go to Doyle's (great local pub). Union Street has a treasure chest of pubs, with The Bell in Hand claiming to be the oldest in the States.
