sorry 'cause i know this is using the BB for rather selfish reasons, but i've been internet shopping and i'm thinking of buying one of these for my cousin's girlfriend, but since they aren't available in stores i can't actually go listen to one to see for myself if they're as awesome as bose claims them to be

anyone have one or at least seen/slash heard one?

I've heard them on a number of occassions.

In fact, my father-in-law owns one. They have excellent sound quality, are very loud/powerful, heard them used at some pretty big assemblies.

I thought they were available in stores.. Sears I think carries them..

hmmm maybe not

anyway.. I like Bose.. happen to be my favorite.. from what I understand they are the best on the market. My car has a bose stereo in it.. best sounding system I have ever had in a car. The only thing I don't like about it. It is very picky when it comes to CD's that I have burned. It won't play certain brands of CD-R's. *shrugs* who knows..

thanks...that's exactly what i was hoping to hear

*crossing one more item from my christmas list...whistling happily

huh...just noticed i typed "seen/slash heard one" in my original post...lol...maybe i'm a serial slasher in disguise

The sound quality is very impressive. Deep, lush sounds from an amazingly small unit. If space is truly at a premium this may be the way to go.

Having said that, the features are sparse. Its a basic radio/CD player with remote. For my own taste, I would spend $200 more and get one of the smaller Bose systems with 4 speakers. The speakers are very small and it produces better sound consistency.

It makes a great gift either way, I would suggest the black one though.

You can hear Bose at most audio specialty stores not department stores.

I haven't heard one, but a friend had and bought one. I personally prefer a conventional stereo with individual speakers for the cost; they are fairly expensive. I think they would be good where a person couldn't put a conventional stereo - say in a kitchen or maybe a shop.

There are some Bose stores around - there is one in a mall near me.

I called Sears, they have them. A very small limited display. The woman I talked to said she wasn't sure about other Sears around the country.
