Borrowed Plumes: the Fan Fic challenge - support thread

It’s probably best not to write much Harry Potter stuff anyway. A lot of artists get review bombed for working with that universe even if they don’t share JK Rowling’s unfortunate ultra conservative views. Plenty of other great universes out there. The lead time for this event gives authors time to research if needed.
JK Rowling is on the left.

I am reliably informed you may not do fan-fiction of stories published on Literotica. So keep that in mind while you're having fun with the challenge.
You can if you get the original author's permission.

She's on the left on most every issue.
As ridiculous as it is to label JKR as “ultra-conservative”, this thread isn’t about her politics. Since no one’s gonna submit anything taking place in the HP universe anyway, the whole discussion is firmly out of scope.

Being anti-trans is usually seen as a conservative view. I will confess I don’t know much about her other political stances. But yeah, point’s moot since we can’t publish Harry Potter related stuff here. Hope we can move on now.

I'll second what someone said earlier in the thread - how about we leave JKR's politics out of this one? There's the politics threads for that stuff. 😉

I agree completely! Every HP and JKR thing feels 'derivative'. Skip it - boring. I was never a huge fan, but have to say that John Williams did write some beautiful orchestration for the movies (obviously, it's John Williams)

But Inspector Teddy Swann - OMG that is beautiful. And she is hot as fuck! I'm already voting 5 stars on that story and you haven't started writing it yet!!! LOL I'm voting 5 stars on all of them!
I love PennyThompson's suggestion to gender shift everyone in the photo, wow, that will be wild!

Last night I sent my outline to @defleur for my fanfic of his George and the Aborable Sissers story. He gave it the 👍.
I’m ridiculously happy about writing this one. It’s Cuckquean and lighthearted. Should be fun

So I have a favorite short story, and I've come up with a way to keep the plot, toss the characters, add my new ones and eroticize it.

Is it fan fiction? I'm not sure. Fan-fiction is usually about playing with established characters. This will definitely not do that. Thoughts?

I think I would include stories that utilize the general setting or 'world' of an established property as fanfic, even if the plot and all the characters are unique. Things like Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and so forth are all assumed to have lots of other events happening concurrently with the whatever the 'main' characters are doing, for example. That being said, it sounds like what you're considering (same plot only) may be more like a parody or a pastiche, which probably does fall into the broader domain of fanfic, the way My Fair Lady was inspired by Pygmalion (and inspired more recent movie remakes itself).

I'll allow it. Established characters, established settings, established notions, it all works. The scope of the challenge is inclusive.

Very cool. It will be a modern and gender swapped version of the short story by Saki called The Interlopers. Many of us read this in school. Looking forward to this.

On the age thing it might help to have an example. If we ignore the idea it can't be kids shows, here's my view:

HP is on one end if the spectrum. The main characters are associated as kids. regardless of any epilogue or similar, few people will think of them as adults.

In the middle is something like the Dragonball saga. Goku starts as a kid, but the show gained greater Western appeal in Dragonball Z, where he was an adult with his own kid, and many adventures after. If you talk about him, it is easy to associate him with his adult form. It can be rejected for it's slight ambiguity. Gohan on the other hand has had much more time as a kid, only growing up in the late seasons. His ambiguity would definitely be too big.

If we look at superman we only see an adult, despite a litany if shows depicting him as a teen or even a baby. These animated series have a hard time breaking any association with his adult self.

On the subject of the borrowed plumes, who's going go write a "ready player one" rip off? A huge cast of characters to play with, and no joke, I think most stories here would be better than the book or movie.

"Ready player slut?"

There have been a few massive multiplayer slutty crossover series I’ve enjoyed over the years. Check out the Shangri-La series on Lit for one example. I write another myself with all the celebrities I’ve featured over the years and the urban fantasy elements I also include. There have also been series where the protagonist gets with a lot of people from the dc or marvel universes. If you have such an idea, it would certainly qualify for this event.
