Bookstore finds - charity shop bargains

Yesterday I dropped into a charity shop and got some great buys - 14 books for only £2.00. And before people shout 'Tightass', I am on a very restricted budget. I'll read them, keep my favourites, then recycle the rest back to the shop to sell again.
Here's a list of my bargains, but I want to hear about those gems YOU have found and where you found them :D

I scored a tattered copy of Continental Drift, by Russell Banks the other day.

I had long since given my copy to a friend in the 90's er somethin.

50 cents, sittin right there on the used table.;)

I just dunno 'boot all you folks who do recreational shopping.

Yeah, a thrift store is awesome but shopping for fun....ICK.


It's stopped raining. Temporarily. So I'm goin' out to haul 5-gal. buckets of liquid plant food around to dip on my growing things, cuz Thrusday is plant feeding day. Now that is fun. And really good strength training plus aerobic workout.
 
I picked up a Big Bertha Titanium Driver along with a matched 3 and 5 wood for a total of $6.97 at the thrift store last month. The heads and shafts are as new. I will put some new grips on them.

erm - golf? ony that first item sounds like a megasized screwdriver or something. A Big Bertha? lol, funny names.

Yeah, but the golf equip deal was huge. A charity shop bargain. Titlewave Books is a good used bookstore, here. But, they've gone upscale and now sell new as well as used, so their used copies aren't the bargains they once were.

I have gotten great deals on sports equipment at the St.Vincent de Paul here (Catholic thrift shop, dem Catholics throw away AWESOMELY good stuff).

A couple Prince tennis rackets, $5 each. I remember when they first came out in the 70s, they were like $80...or maybe $120, can't remember, but I think it was the brand new Arthur Ashe graphite racket that was $120....anyway, that was the 70s when $80 was a hella lot of money for a piece of sports equipment. Jeez, Louisville Sluggers were only like $10 then.

They had a Wilson T-3000 for $5, too, and I regret not getting that one as well...but it looked like someone had temper issues and had been pulling an Ilie Nastase, and the grip was a 4.5 which is just a tad too big for me.
