id like to hear some thought from anyone who read it

ive read all the dune books including the preludes (just finished last one last week) ... read lord of the rings if you havent ... or issac asimov foundation series

max (and i know im not a good one to talk) but read your posts before you press submit and correct typos ... people will tell you soon enough that this board isnt a chatroom :)

but its nice to have new people here so welcome :)

its kinda funny because ive had people getting preatty pissed off at me for talking "chat" talk , ill certainly give this proper spelling thing a try , hmmm a built in spell checker would be nice

Well, it's just very simple. This is a board, not chat, so chat talk doesn't fly here. Why do you think it's called Literotica?

For literature, in case you didn't know. Have a nice day. :)

Bless your heart.

My spelling is awful Max. It was once a lot worse. I've made the effort to try and write well - as you've noticed, people respond to you better if you do - and as a result my spelling has improved.

I cheat. I have a copy of Word open much of the time I'm on the forums. It takes only a second to bash out, spell check a tricky word and then cut'n'paste it into the input box here.

Loved Dune when I first read it, but was severley disappointed in the sequels and consequently am toatally uninterested in the prequels by his son.

I'm currently finishing up a re-reading of the first four books of Earth's Children by Jane Auel in preparation for checking out the newest volume from the library next week.

Since you're apparently a Science Fiction fan, check out anything by Anne McCaffrey, David Brin or David Weber.

The Pern series by Anne McCaffrey is a classic mixture of fantasy and Science Fiction.

Postman, or th Uplift War series by David Brin are outstanding books.

The Honor Harrington series by David Weber is a riveting space opera that's much more believable than the Dune series.

Borderliners, by Peter Hoeg. A review describes it as 'Catcher In the Rye' meets 'A Brief History of Time' - but there's about a half teaspoon of 1984 in it, too.

And Hoeg's writing is top-shelf.

"Stop Walking on Eggshells" - it will help you to deal with yoyotwat...

It is truly excellent to see someone here who has such good literary taste.
I have been a fan of George Orwell for some time, even though he was a socialist.
1984 is amazing novel.
If you have not already read them look for Animal Farm, Down and Out in London and Paris is also very good.

I have not read any of the Dune series, sorry to say.
In the realm of Sci-Fi two series that I enjoyed very much were Issac Asimov's Robot City.
The Mission Earth series by L.Ron Hubbard who also wrote Battlefield Earth, do yourself a favor and don't even bother wth the film, the book is ever so much better.

I haven't read in a while, but the last book I did was "Notes From A Big Country" by Bill Bryson.

It's about a man who was born in the US, moved to England lived there for 20 years then moved back to the States only to experience a mixture of things having changed and culture shock.

It's quite an amusing read. I'm looking to get more books from him.

Stephen R. Donaldson's Thomas Covenant series is also good. You might try that.

If your just messing around then fu*k ya.

If you are sincere then you might want to try Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. That should help your mind grow a bit.

I am glad you are reading. Get into it. Learn to love it. A good book is better than any movie or TV show.

I am not just saying that because I am a teacher. I am saying that because I am a reader.

I agree with Weird Harold about Anne McCaffrey, although the Pern series is the only series of hers that I haven't read yet. But I love most of her other books, including the Crystal Singers Books and the Rowan family books.

I just this very night finished the new Jean Auel book, Shelters of Stone, and I loved it. It was worth waiting 10 years for. I hear there's another book slated for release next year, which will be the final book in the series.

I also read all the Dune books, prequels included. I kind of lost interest after book 3 of Dune but slogged through them anyway. The prequels were much more entertaining, I thought.

I also recommend lots books by Robert Heinlein, particularly
"Friday" and "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress."

that was me in the last post, I have never been logged out before...how strange.

I read 1984 and I loved it. It was great.

If you like that book read "A Brave new world" by Aldouis Huxley

Also read "Animal Farm" wich is also by Goerge Orwell.

The Shannarrah (sp?) series by Terry Brooks is good so far (ive only read three)

"Romance of The Three Kingdoms" is awsome so far. Im not finished yet.

I love any Star Wars books by Ac Crispen and the Han Solo Trilogy.

Ive not read the origional Dune but I have read House Atreides and House Karkkonen (poor gurney) and they ruled. I will eventually read House Corrino and then Dune.

Those are my current read books. Any suggestions? I love history. Mainly Chinese and Japanese. Anyone read "The five rings" by Miamato Musashi? Is it good? I heard it was but I havnt found it yet. I ordered it from Barnes and Noble.

i will probably take a bit of flak over this one
but my kid got the harry potter books
for xmas and ive just read them
that j.k.rowling is a pure genius and i would reccomend anyone
who has not already to read them
p.s can anyone tell me what the j.k stands for in
her name?

Bradbury was one the first authors I ever read seriously.

I read every one of his books when I was younger.

Fahrenheit 451 is an excellent book.

He had a collection of short stories a number of years back, "the Toynbee Convector" that really impressed me.

Last book I read (not counting the Visual Dictionary to Attack of the Clones ;-) ), was Report From Ground Zero. Very good book about the eyewitness accounts to September 11th. If you read it, have a box of tissues standing by.

SciFi:
Deathstalker series by Simon R. Green
Jaran series by Kate Elliot

Mystery:
Midnight Louie series by Carole Nelson Douglas
Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich

Bastard Out of Carolina

I haven't read it, but a friend says it's Good

I recommend: Candy

probably because it's hard to find

Good Grief!
