books to be republished using the female author's real names, not male pseudonyms

So, changing the name on the cover somehow changes the contents?

Yeah, that is so woke...

Kinda links into some of the discussion on Female Gaze in AH. I'm not buying JK Rowling's whinge, considering she then invented Galbraith herself so she could do a big reveal later.

Very revealing comment.

It's not my fault you're stupid and think that putting "Mary Ann Evans" on the cover instead of "George Eliot" means that the contents are different than they were before.

The fact that anyone feels the NEED to do this shows more about their lack of understanding that authors CHOOSE what names to publish under than the false reality that women can't get published under their true names.

The whole idea is bullshit that's trying to get in on the woke movement which is falling apart faster than I type this.

So they are coming out of the Closet?

Are they cross dressers?

You do realize that the phrase "get woke" is equivalent to the old phrase "get a clue" right???

Right wingers continue to deny the reality of climate change, systemic racism/bias, white privilege, Covid, Trump's criminality, and now....the historical discrimination against women authors that pressured them into writing under a mans name. SMH.

Get woke and get a clue Herpy.

No, it's not. "Woke" is a Leftist ideology that parallels facism.

Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism[1][2] characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy[3

It makes perfect sense to re-publish these books under their real authors names. Sense and Sensibility and P&P were written by "A Lady:" no author credit, and Mary Evans had to become George Eliot to get published at all.

The publishers make more money out of classics due to the absence of Royalties so the discussion is a good marketing gambit as well.

Evans and Austen were the two greatest English authors of the 19th century of either sex so let them have the credit.

We blokes often forget that the first published writer ever was a woman so the opponents shouldn't feel too threatened by what is not a new idea.

Where did she say that, cat lady?

Old cat lady is having a ruff go of as of late. He thought he was the WuHan Warrior but thought better of his misguided bravado and is now homebound.

Can't answer a straight forward question because you know what you said is bullshit. You boomers and your fragile 'masculinity' are funny.:)

He never does. It's like him, BoBo, and Reichguide all share parts of a tiny brain.

There is that. I suppose they're going to publish "collectors editions."

It's not as if this knowledge had been hidden from the public all this time so this is coming across as some sort of "woke" marketing ploy.

I used to have some early editions issued under the names of Acton, Currer and Ellis Bell. They were soon republished under the real names of the Bronte sisters.

So long as it has the author, or the authors estate's consent, I see nothing wrong with this. Cool.
