Like the topic says. What books do you think would make a great movie.

My personal wish is they made David Eddings trilogy the Elenium into movies.

They aren't consider his best work but I think they would fit extremely well in the movie genre. Its basically a high fantasy where the books starts with a princess being poisoned and her knight protector returns to save her. If you never read it and your into fantasy books you should give it a read.

I did recently see the movie peaceful warrior which I really liked. Its based on the book and was a pretty decent movie.

So what book do you think would make a great movie?

So far

The Elenium Trilogy by David Eddings
"Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon
Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter. by Laurell K. Hamilton
A Confederacy of Dunces.
Ananzi Boys, by Neil Gaimon.
The Alienist by Caleb Carr
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson.
Ender's Game by Orsan Scott Card
Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony
"The Cat Who Walks Through Walls" by Robert Heinlein
Job A Comedy of Justice by Robert Heinlein
(might as well add Stranger in a Strange Land and Friday)
"Faerie Tale" by Raymond Feist
Running with a Demon by Terry Brooks

I want to see "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

I keep meaning to pick this up and read it. I've read a couple other Neil Gaiman books and wasn't impressed. Clive Barker usually does it better.

I can't think of a person who could play Jamie, but I'd love to see that too.

Motion to approve! Hmmm.... someone tall with red hair, but still attractive. Impossible.

I don't like Neil Gaiman on his own either. I never even made it through "American Gods." He's far too dark and fatalistic for me.

But this book with Terry Pratchett is one of the best I've ever read. The sense of humor is exquisite and the imagery wonderful.

One of my most often reread books. And I think the only one Ulaven and I have read to each other cover to cover.

Ah! That's one I read (American Gods). It was awful, but I dragged my ass through it anyway. I'll pick it up next time I see it. Thanks.

I nominate Cate Blanchette for Claire.

There's a link on Diana Gabaldon's home page for possible actors for book roles. It's neat to see what people think. I'll see if I can find it.

Ah, here it is.

I just thought of it and I've decided I want Gerard Butler. I'll see if he's on the list. Woo hoo, he is! He and Hugh Jackman I'd be able to handle.

They're certainly good choices. I can't decide. ;)

Janet Evanovich's site has the same for the Plum series.

When I saw 300, I didn't recognize him as the lead in Phantom of the Opera until I saw his name in the credits.

My favorite of his is still Dracula 2000.

Phantom was okay, but he didn't have the voice for it. Michael Crawford might be funny looking, but his voice kicks Gerard's all to hell.

I agree with the Outlander series.

(Orlando Bloom as Jamie? WTF?)

Ananzi Boys, by Neil Gaimon.

The Alchemist.
Although I would also say, Please don't make a movie of The Alchemist if it won't look exactly as it does when playing in my imagination..
