I had asked this question in the General Board, and was advised to come here and ask it, that I may get better results.

Does anyone know of any fictional books with a theme around hot wife or cuckolding? Preferably, not an overt, in your face the entire time, theme. One where it is the theme of the story, but introduced slowly, tastefully.

I would like to buy the book or books for my wife to read. Maybe she would start reading them with the assumption they are just another romance novel, but as she reads further on, it awakens a new fantasy in her.

Thanks for all the help

Honestly, the only one I can think of is Peter Straub's Ghost Story. Four characters and one of them, the wife sleeps around and the husband knows it. As you requested, its only one element of an involved story, but there's not a lot of actual sex shown and the woman is older, early sixties I think.

Thank you so much for the reply!

"Tailor, Tinker, Soldier, Spy" by John Le Carre. Consider one of the classic spy novels. The main character is George Smiley, and his wife's unfaithfulness is a major thread through the book.

My stories revolve around a swinger couple, with the first three stories of a series showing their early background. You might try reading "Lifestyle Ch. 04: Mentors" to see how they are introduced to the world of swingers. That story is only 4.2k words, so it's rather short.

All of my stories progressed through my learning curve of writing, so IMO the earlier ones are not as good as the latest.

This may sound odd, but in some ways, Dracula has elements of Cuckoldry though the wife is unfaithful through no fault of her own. Or is she that innocent? Hum! And for that matter, Jonathan wasn't entirely, staunchly incorruptible himself.

But most books with cuckoldry have it in the description if not the title. However, I know that The Red and the Black (1830) by Stendhal and Lancelot (1977) by Walker Percy are two books about unfaithful wives. In Shakespeare’s work, Cuckoldry was oft used theme. Not sure they’d be helpful for your purpose, though.

Then on a more current note, there is this article 12 Best Women’s Fiction / Romance Crossover Books I’ve Read in 2021. However, I'm not certain any of them have hidden cuckoldry in them. They were in a search for mainstream fiction featuring cuckoldry, so maybe they have it, maybe they don't.
