I assume everyone here is probably a voracious reader. And since the world is usually not considerate enough to stop until you finish the entire book, you need to mark your place. What do you use as a bookmark? My current personal favorite is a pale leather one. I also have a few neon pink and orange strips of laminated poster board.

Style question: When you finish a section (page or chapter) which ends at the bottom of the page, do you put the bookmark there (where you stopped reading) or at the next page (where you are going to start reading the next time)?

despite owning nice bookmarks that were gifts, I usually end up with a business card stcuk in there...

Whatever happens to be handy. Empty pipe cleaner envelopes, matchbook covers, lengths of newspaper torn off, occasionally a business card or some such.

Ot I just hit Command-D. ;)

I've been flying so much lately

I end up using old boarding passes. I get partway into a book and oops we're landing and it's all I've got handy.

I don't use bookmarks. I lay my book open side down and leave it there until I get a chance to pick it back up.

I have about 20-30 bookmarks -- the kind with tassles -- ranging from a complete set of Disney Princesses and a half dozen of the Dragonlogy set to a Curious George bookmark. the one I use the most says,"SHHHHHH! I'm Trying to Read" on it.

I put the bookmark where I plan to resume reading.

GAAHH!!! Doing that would give me the shakes. I yell at my wife to use a bookmark whenever she does that. Of course, she just reads her books once and gets rid of them, while I need to start doing that. Yes, maybe some day I can get rid of some books. Yeah, maybe. Maybe. :D :D

Anyway, I use old concert/sporting event tickets to mark my place. And it goes on the page where I will resume reading, not the one where I left off.

I used to use a label I had peeled off a bottle Yuengling Beer but I lost it in our last move so now I just use what ever is at hand.

Envelopes for the last two books. Before that was twelve tears ago in high school and I don't remember what I used back then.

Frequntly reciept paper from work folded into interesting shapes...ok, usually a triangle...

As for where I put it, it I finish a page the bookmark goes to the next page as I'll otherwise end up reading the same page over and over in the middle of traffic coming through the toll plaza (which happens anyway  )
