I have a rather long story. I wanted to put it in book form on my pc. and print it out. The problem that i have is that I am not sure what program to use to get my layout right. I want to have it so the page is in "landscape". I want it so page 1 and 3 are on the front. Page 2 is on back of 1 and 4 on back of 3 and so on. I just figured that I could cut the page in half and end up with a book after binding. I have been messing with my word program and cant get it figured out. Is there a program that would arrange this for me?
Thanks:confused:

WordPerfect 8 (the latest I have access to) has a facility called 'Print as Booklet', which sounds as if it might be what you're looking for.

Acrobat is IMHO the best.
Pagemaker will do it.

The simple way (if you use Word) is to print all the odd pages and then all the even on the back using A4. Then collate them and split. Then photociopy half size. The problem is you don't really want 1 and 3 on the first side. If you have eight pages (for simplicity) you want 1 and 8 on the front then 2 and 7 on the back. Then you want 3 and 6 on the front of sheet two and finally 4 and 5 on the back. Then if you put them together and fold down the middle - hey presto! - a book.
If it sounds complicated dissect a newspaper into the original sheets and look at how they did it.

Word Perfect does have the right set up. I think MS Word might too but I have never figured it out. Here are the steps I use in Word Perfect.

File/ Page Setup/ Landscape
Then Margins Layout/ On two sided printing, click Book side to side.
Then On Divide Page/ Click Off, then 2x1
Then click Ok at the bottom. Your page will now come up on the screen divided.

Now to print, its picky.
You have to go back again each time you print File/Page Setup/Margin Layout/ And click Book side to side. Then OK
Then click printer icon/ click two sided printing/ Then check the little box on the right that say Print as a booklet.

When you print it will print as a book front to back. However if you do not have a duplexing (two sided) printer. It will print one side then ask you manually to turn/flip the pages (instructions come up) and re-insert in the printer for rest of the printing.

I don't think MS Word (97) has a way to print a normal document as a booklet -- at least it's not directly address in the print setup menu or the help file.

It probbly CAN be done with Word, but I'm pretty sure it involves formatting the document to be printed that way.

pdf

cheaper to use the above mentioned programmes, but I just bought software from fineprint.com and it includes booklet making. 100 Euros is pricey, but maybe it's something to consider.
It works in pdf format.
