Woe is me. Was halfway through editing my first draft of my first story I was going to submit. Along comes the new iOS 26 update for the MacBook Air and it’s gone. Oh well. Live and learn.

Sorry to hear it! It's one of those things almost everyone has experienced, either with work or private stuff. Hopefully you remember the edits you made.

No Apple OS upgrade in the past 15 years goes unpunished. It's how they sell new stuff. Saying this as an Apple user and developer since 1984.

That sucks. Sorry to hear it. I once lost a page or so to a power blip and I was distraught. I can't imagine losing the whole thing.

Uh. "MacBook Air"? Uh. Uh. MacBooks run MacOS, not iOS, he says, glancing at the MacBook Air 6" off his left elbow. Are you talking about MacOS "Tahoe" 26.0, that was just released? No experienced Mac user in their right mind upgrades to the first iteration of a OSX/MacOS major release, at least not on a system they use for real work.

So sorry you had to learn this the hard way.

And always have both physical and cloud backups.
Absolutely. In the days before the cloud when forced security updates were the thing, I've had half a days code just disappear when IT pushed a security update that had a forced reboot attached. When it happened to our director, the policy changed.

So sorry about it, OP. If anything, you did nothing wrong. Apple is the one to blame.

Tux would never do that to your files.
I have physical copies of some of my stories, just not that particular one. ALL copies are on another device but I edit as I start to draft on the Literotica submission page and that’s what was lost. I’m still psyched to get some of them published!!!
