Perhaps a bit of a rant, I think more of a concern.

At noon today, I received a phone call from a friend who works at the local school. My son's school had received their fourth bomb threat in three school days. My friend said that children were being dismissed early and that school personnel were very "panicky" over this particular threat.

My son, age five, arrived home, at his usual time. He explained the details of the bomb threat and the subsequent search efforts to me and told me that they waited outside until dismissal at three p.m. It makes me cringe to hear this innocent talk about bomb threats and war.

Okay. WTF was the school thinking, keeping children outside for three hours while they searched, leaving them only enough time to return to the building to get their things?

WTF justifiable reason could there be for a five year old to be told exactly what had occurred, in detail?

Thank you for your ears, lit !!!!!! :)

End of Rant

Do not respond!

That should take the place of, Don't tread on me!

That was me.

Something has changed. I have not cleared m cookies in a while ;) .

MissTaken,

My son's "school" bomb threat was one of the final straws when it came to my decision to homeschool him. I suppose that asshole did us a favor by making me face the decision and pull him out of that downward spiral.

Home schooling is not the answer unless you are above average.

The only thing I have accomplished is a daughter who talks n\back to me in three languages.

I'm sending her to public school to get even with the system.

That sounds like a good plan. :)

I wish it were feasible. I am just getting frustrated with how the world has changed and what my child is exposed to.

My ugly, stupid, step mother was appalled that my son brought home information concerning substance abuse prevention. Now, there I could only tell her that yes! It was necessary to start talking about it at a young age, unfortunate as it may seem!

Oh well..... ~sigh~

Oh dear! Multi lingual disrespect! lol

Well, as I can't consider home schooling, I will just finish my MST and presumably teach at my children's school. At least then, I may be able to be part of what happens with them, more so than I am now.
