The US Dept of Agriculture released a final report yesterday regarding three of Boars Head meat packing facilities (in Indiana, West Virginia and Arkansas) that were cited for chronic "extreme and flagrant unsafe handling" of meat. Slime everywhere and the plants smelled of rotten meat.
How bad were these plants? Boars Head did a cost analysis to see how much it would cost to bring these plants back into compliance with USDA health and safety standards and opted instead to shut down all three plants.
These three plants were "ground zero" for the listeria outbreak in 2023.
Enjoy your salami sandwich!
I wonder if the plants will reopen when Elon and Vivek's DOGE initiatives unilaterally cancel meddlesome gummint regulations?
