Story

Their story blows my mind, though I suppose lots of refugees have equally as amazing tales of their flight from horror and injustice.

In the UK, a blue plaque is a big deal. You're officially part of our history.

For that matter, why would any thinking slave run to the bigotry
of the nation which established slavery in America?

Yup, "states rights!" the American South screamed - but they didn't give two flying fucks about the rights of Northern states in relation to the Fugitive Slave Act.

We punished their cancerous hypocrisy by spilling the blood of their brothers.
