If anyone is interested.....

A story set in the old West, with cowboys, and bank robbers, and vampires, and zombies....

My character is a gun for hire, and his specialty is dealing with the undead and supernatural creatures in whatever form they may present themselves.

Johnathan James McCoy
DOB: January 29, 1843
Race: Human
Hgt/Wgt: 6'02" - 192 lbs
Dark brown hair (almost black), blue eyes

Originally from Atlanta, GA, McCoy was 17 when the War Between the States broke out. He couldn't join up and fight, however, because he was in Europe with his father and mother at the time.

His father, a professor and teacher of history and science, seemed to travel all over the world, dragging the family with him. As a result, John had a lot of influences from various cultures growing up, from fighting styles of the Far East to formal education at some of Europe's finest schools.

When John set out on his own, he joined a group of others of his unique educational background. This group investigated, or rather hunted, supernatural creatures and occurrences.

The skills needed to combat these creatures John gained through study and tutelage under many different teachers.

McCoy generally wears a long cotton canvas duster coat over a cotton collared shirt with the brown canvas pants typical of western trail riders. His boots have seen the miles of trails throught the US and Mexico. Sometimes he dresses up in a suit with tie, depending on what the occassion calls for. At all times, however, he's wearing a dark brown felt hat with black braided latigo band.

McCoy carries a Colt Single Action Army revolver in .44/40, and Winchester Model 1873 rifle in the same caliber that he keeps on his horse saddle most of the time. Also on his horse, in a specially made leather wrap-style case is a Sharps Shiloh model rifle, complete with tang sight, and chambered in the .45/70 cartridge. McCoy is uncannily deadly accurate with all three.

John has a ring that he received from someone in Europe when he was still a child. It is a plain silver band with an unknown type of script engraved on it. The ring has an enchantment: it protects him from curses, and allows the wearer to heal from wounds more rapidly than normal.

John's black horse is an Andalucian breed, built for strength and speed. The horse, who's name is Shadow, is loyal to John as much as a faithful dog would be, and has a peculiar sense of being aware of his surroundings, especially when there's trouble.

The setting will be the town of New Hope, somewhere in/around Texas, Arizona, New Mexico. The town is, or was, a thriving community, with a large population in the outlying rural area. The town itself sits near a forested area bordering some large hills and mountains, with canyon passes and old mines. There is train service and stagecoach serviceto the town, as well as a ferry that can shuttle people down river to the sawmill town of White Rock. It seems lately, though, this thriving town has met up with some unusual occurrences...strange deaths, bodies drained of blood, vicious animal attacks in the woods, reports of empty graves.....

I'd like to join. Here's my character idea.

NAME: Pavel Millers Jackson
AGE: 24
RACE: Human
PROFESSION: Cowboy
APPEARANCE: 5'11" and 172 lb. Short curly black hair. Average muscle amount. Lightly tanned skin. Has a scar that starts near forehead, goes across his eye, and ends at the left ear.
HISTORY: Little is known about Pavel, except that he arrived in the town about 3 years ago. Ever since his arrival criminals and gang members, who had been harassing travelers and merchants, have stopped attacking the town.
Known to only handful of people, Pavel had a bad childhood. His mother was mentally unstable, and his father was always drunk and physically abusive. Pavel ran away and joined a gang of mercenaries called "The Blue Ravens". From them, he heard his skills and quickly became a professional gunslinger as well as became the leader of the Blue Ravens Pavel and his gang traveled to the town of New Hope where they hoped to find a new place to settle down.
The Blue Ravens are not hostile to the townsfolk, nor are they extorting them, but instead act as protecters. An unusual thing found these days. The Blue Ravens protect the town form violent criminals.
PERSONALITY: Pavel's childhood served to influence him to help others by making sure other's have a happier outcome and outlook on life. When he took control of the Blue Ravens, he turned them form mercenaries into caring protectors. Pavel is respectful to others even though he appears, to strangers, as a silent and emotionless thug but those who know him know that he's a respectful and caring person.
EQUIPMENT: Basic cowboy clothing plus leather trenchcoat, 1866 Lever-Action Brass Repeating Rifle, 1873 45 Caliber Revolver, Knife, and Money.

Awesome character!

We need a town sheriff. I was thinking the sheriff would have some deputies, as well as working with Avellan13's character.

If no one wants to play him, he could be an NPC?

Abraxas Winterlight could be the sheriff, if he wants to play a paladin like character. Sheriffs are law-bringers which are what paladins are.

Ghost Wolf was born to a navajo woman who had been raped by an unknown traveler. His mother died in child birth, but he was raised by the tribe. Although his upbringing was sound, Ghost Wolf's heart was left cold for never having known either of his parents. Over and over, he asked to be told the stories about his mother but they were never enough.

He came to blame the stranger who was his father, although he hid it well, he burned to punish that man for the death of his mother. So, he set himself to learn all he could from the members of his tribe. Hunting with bow and knife, how not to be seen, riding horse, even learning secrets from the Medicine Man... So strong was his passion for his fathers blood by this time that young Ghost Wolf used what he had learned from the Medicine Man to call a dark spirit into himself.

But once he had, one look from the Medicine Man, and he was no longer welcome among his tribe. So he left, searching for the man who gave him life, but stole his mothers.

Welcome, Ravenloft.

I will NPC the sheriff, unless someone else comes along to claim him.

Thanks for the invite AmenRa. Perhaps the sheriff could have some connection to Ghost Wolf's father?

Satindesire...

I'm thinking that McCoy came into town just after your rainstorm, if this makes sense, then we'll say my post takes place after yours, even though I posted first....instead of me doing a bunch of editing and moving around?
