Say that you are using a blog to tell the cyberworld about something weird and somewhat scandalous that happened to you; should you change all names to protect the innocent or should you just let it all hang out?

If it was just me involved, I'd do nothing. My responsibility.

If it could cause problems for other people, delete whatever it was, apologize and chalk it up to experience.

Without more data, can't offer any more advice.

You can't use real names. Okay for yourself, but for others- no way.

I agree. I usually use nicknames or titles or initials for other people when I blog. People who know me in RL can figure out who I mean, but I'm not causing anyone undue humiliation or embarassment.

This blog hasn't happened yet. I'll change everybody's names, even mine; I have an alternative handle I sometimes employ. I'll use that.

If there is ever any doubt about how the people involved would react to the blog, leave ther names off, use initials, whatever.

However, I'm pretty sure my friends don't care if I write a blurb about them from time to time.

Like I said, everybody's getting pseudonyms. There's not going to be any blurb. Just someone's evil machinations laid bare, that's all.

i suck at blogging but it is a nice venue for getting out those crappy feelings. there are a couple subjects that i have to stay away from because of real life situations but for the most part i only blog when i have extreme angst.

I'd change names to protect the innocent, avoid liability and if there was an audience you'd NOT want to know about the issue (future SO's, future employees, Mom etc.)
