the more he supports George over Iraq. His own Party is making very loud warning noises and the British public are asking questions like "But Why. What's it all about?" (You have to understand here that the average British citizen knows as much about world affairs as the average American citizen, they just listen to different slants on the same story that's all).

But if Blair's not careful...

Hey, ppman... don't you have ever have anything to talk about that doesn't involve George Bush?

I'm startin' to think maybe you got a little crush on him...

Hi P_P_Man,

This is totally off topic. I've a question for you because someone over at my place here asked about me a difficult question earlier:

When Blair takes/took a vacation, he himself pays for it out of his own pocket right? The tax dollars does not pay for it, right? If it true, then why does this rule don't apply to the Royal Family?

Your answer will determine my answer to the question I got.

Thanks, and sorry about the off topic question.

The answer is that because the UK is such a backwater archaic nation they still have a *snicker* royal family who is in charge of the country.

We just have the Kennedies and the increasing Bush political dynasty.

Sure but at least the Kennedy's did something useful for their money. Who doesn't need booze?

Because the Royal Family is maintained, as a business, from something called the Civil List. It's money from public funds which has to be negotiated by the Royal Family's accountants and Parliament on a regular basis.

Often compromises are made. Recently the Queen's advisers agreed to her paying income tax in return for the Queen compromising on something else (sorry I can't remember what it was now).

The Civil List covers everything that helps make the 'Family Business' run, including holidays and is audited by the National Audit Office.

If a politician goes on holiday, he pays for it himself.

If a royal goes on holiday they pay for it themselves.

If a politician goes on a fact finding mission or an international conferance to Barbados then it is paid for.

If one of the top royals goes on a goodwill visit somewhere then that is paid for.

Basically if it is called a holiday they have to pay for it. If they can in anyway pass it off as official business the taxpayers will end up paying for it.

Hey, if I was in politics, I'd drink too.

Hey, let's be fair. They were in the mob-run booze business long before they were in politics. They used to be respectable.

Of course I meant no disrespect.

Yes you're probably more correct than I was.

I don't really pay much attention to the Civil List. As long as it works without causing me to be more out of pocket each year I don't mind...

Imagine what would happen if "Arab Street" decided to become more friendly with Bush. Leaders would risk it for extra money, right?

Oh no, now someone else will have to be America's bitch.

I hear Mugabe's keen and he would give Bush a toehold in Africa...

I'd go the Clinton route...

Women are much more fun...

Honest...

The last four ex-US Presidents are caught in a tornado, and off they spin to the land of OZ. They finally make it to the Emerald City and come
before the Great Wizard.

"WHAT BRINGS YOU BEFORE THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ?"

Jimmy Carter steps forward timidly:" I've come for some courage."

"NO PROBLEM!" says the Wizard. "WHO IS NEXT?"

Ronald Reagan steps forward, "Well. . . I. . .think I need a brain."

"DONE" says the Wizard. "WHO COMES NEXT BEFORE THE GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ?"

Up steps George H. Bush sadly, "I'm told by the American people that I need a heart."

"I'VE HEARD IT'S TRUE!" says the Wizard. "CONSIDER IT DONE."

There is a great silence in the hall. Bill Clinton is just standing there, looking around, but doesn't say a word.

Irritated, the Wizard finally asks, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?"

"Is Dorothy here?"

Sorry,wrong.

The Government rules the country.

At least, that's the way it's supposed to work.

As for the rest.archaism rules OK.

So fucking what?

If Blair and his lovely wife were offed today, would the world be a better or a worser place?

Or not discernably different?

I vote for BETTER. One less politician, one less lawyer. Whoopeee!

But Toto was a boy so that throws that theory right out the window :)
