Blair Mocked as US Poodle

The link doesn't work for me, but Blair being portrayed as Bush's poodle is not new. It isn't even new for Prime Minister Blair. It has been an accusation made about most UK Prime Ministers since Sir Winston Churchill during World War II.

The British are allies of the US. While we have our own agenda, we generally agree with the US administration on major foreign policy issues, no matter which party is in power in either country.

When we disagree, we tend to voice that disagreement in private. We do disagree but express concerns out of the public arena in the interests of a united stance on the many things we do agree about.

'Imperialist Lackeys', 'American Running Dogs' etc. are not new epithets for the UK. 'Poodle' is over 60 years old.

Lord, how I love those old Marxist epithets! I have a special soft spot for the running dogs. If I have to be anyone's imperialist lackey, I hope I get to be his running dog and stalking horse as well. :D

There's a video link off the article which has a bit of the conversation. It's not pretty on Blair's side. He tries to make a genuine point and an offer to help the US efforts and Bush interrupts, blundering over him with an unthought out point that shows he hasn't been listening to a word Blair's said.

Not good.
