Blade runner sequel in the works?

I just hope the female lead is as sexy as Sean Young was in the original.

With the way Hollywood has done things recently, more then likely this sequel will be a nearly all female cast with a very politically correct script LOL

Blade Runner and Dark City are among the best of the dystopian genre, imo. I read some interesting reviews about how they both tackle the questions:
- "What does it mean to be/ or makes one human?" (emotions and love -no brainer here-)
- and "How does one deal with becoming aware of their limitations -death, the awareness of false programming or indoctrination by society- , and how does one then reprogram themselves with a new system of meaning?"

Matrix was cool too, but to me it felt a bit over-ambitious.
Too many 'philosophical ideas' which were a bit too ostentatiously spelled out. Like every time The Oracle or X talked, you knew that they would offer another riddle or another cool concept.
The 2nd Matrix movie was particularly over the top, imo.

Sequels are always tricky.

I never really cared for Blade Runner.
I haven't got anything against it as such, I just dont think it deserves the praise a lot of people give it.
That said, I'm pretty sick of this reboot/old movie sequel phase that Hollywood is going through.
It's driven by young fans that grew up watching them but they usually make a hash of it instead of giving themselves the movie they always wanted growing up.

Why have they never remade Plan Nine From Outer Space with modern effects and decent talent?

Zombies controlled by a spaceship? sounds like the original Night of the Living Dead.

modern effects, decent talent and decent script (don't forget good director) makes it something other than Plan 9.

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, so I'm looking forward to this sequel. Many years ago, as a kid, I came across the short story the original was based on, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and I was really struck by the title. It's a good story, if you haven't read it.
