Blackberry Pearl.

Anyone out there have one? How is the sound quality on the calls? Does it have a Note Book or Note Pad application?

My carrier, (Verizon) has informed me that it is time for me to renew my contract. I am now able to get a new phone cheap. One of the phones offered cheaply is the Pearl.

I text. I take pictures and I talk on occasion. (My cell is my main phone.)

I need a phone I can talk easily on. I also would like a phone that allows me to easily text and take notes. I also wouldn't mind being able to load things like the PDR into my phone.

Would the Pearl do this?

The Pearl would be able to do this, yes. Here is CNETs review. Personally I went with the Curve not too long ago and love that. Be advised though, you will have to pay an extra fee on top of your contract for usage of Blackberrys network.
As a side note, you can expand the memory with another chip. If I remember right its about $20 for a 4GB chip, and not that hard to swap out. Blackberrys software makes it easy to sync to your computer and change around music/photos.

I currently have a 8830 World Edition Blackberry through work...it's great. I have directed my google mail to it and through that all my other mail accounts. All Blackberry's are essentially the same inside, it the outside that are different.

Oh and you can get a 4 gig mini SD for under $20 at wal-mart.

ETA: If your carrier offers the Curve at a reasonable price that's what I would get, I like the full quewty keyboard and the camera shots video.

You will want the unlimited data plan too!

Unless Verizon works differently than Sprint, you shouldn't have to commit to anything. You should be able to go monthly for the same rate and not be bound to a two year contract, unless you want a new phone for cheap.
