Man Accused of Killing 4 in Lancaster Fire Arrainged Friday

Lancaster -- An 18-year-old man alleged to have stabbed, beaten and strangled to death a woman and her three daughters before trying to cover his tracks by setting their Lancaster home ablaze is scheduled to be arraigned in Lancaster today.

Corey King of Altadena was arrested shortly after midnight Wednesday and was booked on suspicion of murder, said Deputy Derrick Thompson of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

According to broadcast reports, King also is a person of interest in the death of Evelyn Mosely, 90, who was found in her burning home in Altadena in May. Sheriff's homicide detective, however, could not confirm that this morning.

King is locked up on $1 million bail and expected in Antelope Valley Court to answer four counts of murder.

Killed were Sonya Durfield, 42; Ebony Horton, 14; Melinda Harris, 12; and Kayla Clark, 8.

King, who was at the Lancaster home late Monday, surrendered to sheriff's detectives Tuesday afternoon after hearing his name mentioned in connection with the crime. He was a friend of the woman's older son and reportedly had been drinking, KCAL9 reported.

The bodies were found by firefighters who put out the fire at the home in the 1500 block of East Avenue J-3 about 7 a.m. Tuesday.
