Enough to make us all afraid on a daily basis. Enough that even guys would go in groups to the bathroom. Enough to see ultra-violence on an almost daily basis. Enough to make the teachers instruct us on how to deal with them. Enough that I would ask my parents questions like, "Why do they gang up on us?" and "Why do they always fight in groups and kick the person when they are on the ground?"
We used to talk about how they had unlimited access to touching black girls against their will. Years later, my friends' younger siblings said it was with non-black girls too. That was surprising. If a teacher left a room, black boys would physically touch and harass black girls until they came back in.
As far as percentages - when I was a freshman in HS, it was probably 20-30%. By the time I graduated, it was around 5%. They all dropped out due to pregnancy, drugs or prison.
