Black Girl Banned from Chat for Trying to Expose Bigotry

For weeks during and after the US election, someone was creating bigoted chat room names with slurs in the title. A group of us decided to find out who was doing it. We actually had it narrowed down to a few suspects. Those folks can vouch for this.

We asked the mods first (ask me and I'll name them), the ones in the Chat Mod Office room, and they said it was okay to investigate. I asked how to prevent being banned by being in those rooms, since I wanted to stake them out. The MODS TOLD ME to post a message explaining why I was in the chat room, so if/when a Mod saw me in there, they would know why and not ban me. I did EXACTLY as the Mods told me and publicly said something like "I'm only in this room to stake it out and find out who keeps making them", and then I was banned anyway. The Mods obviously do not talk to each other and aren't on the same page.

I appealed, and the Mods told me "you are just mad you broke the rules" without even reading my explanation. They accused me of "calling all the mods bigots and racists" which I DID NOT DO.

I felt, yet again, that I was being doubted and treated like an 'angry black woman' when I was just trying to help, and protect our platform.

Just know that if you are a person of color, Mods will just falsely accuse you of playing the race card, no matter how calm and rational your appeal is. They never even asked me for the list of suspects, or what we had found out. I don't think they even care who was making the rooms with slurs, they seemed more upset by me, and falsely accused me of playing the race card (probably so they wouldn't have to engage with what I was actually saying).

I have screen shots of this.

I'd like to see the screenshots, please. All of them, since you're making a fairly serious accusation. Show me the receipts.

Screenshots would be lovely to avoid this sort of thing, which is why we always ask for them in cases like this. You offered no proof, and indeed only did so here after the fact.
The moderator that banned you messaged you in the room *and* in PM and you did not respond, so action was taken. You messaged a mod and told them what your plan was and that you were in a room like this but then a mod came in and banned everyone in it.
Your ban has nothing to do with ethnicity, outrage, or what your intentions were/are. You were banned for continuously being in rooms that you yourself acknowledge don't belong on Lit and was being addressed. It is, in fact, the crux of the matter for which you were banned. Also, with respect to our lovely moderators, Thesunmaid and I are the senior admin here and could have easily helped you navigate this situation if you had come to us beforehand. I was only messaged *after* you were banned and given the nature of your response - yes, we are dubious.

You never asked me for screen shot in our exchange. Which I also took shots of. I should have shotted the original conversation in the Chat Mod Office.

I was definitely afk, otherwise I would have responded. I *did* post in the forums asking what had happened, as I was confused at first and thought it was a normal boot or glitch. I never saw any messages from mods, when I came back I was just booted. Mods also never responded to me on the forum. I had to have a friend ask how and who to reach out to.

None of the other mods told me to run it by you two first, or I absolutely would have. I would have been happy to know who the senior admin were, but that information was never volunteered. I would absolutely expect to work with mods on the plan to catch the person. I would also expect senior admin to not falsely accuse someone of using the race card, or condescend to them ("honey"). But that doesn't even really matter.

Be dubious all you want, but I know for a fact that I am in the right and if you still won't unban me, I will still know I am in the right then too.

It was not being adequately addressed when those rooms stayed up for hours on end. The simple fact that I was afk after waiting so long and collecting names in there speaks to how long it was before they would be taken down each time. Mods complaining about closing them and then they'd be right back up.

So let's just assume you're right, and was I 'banned for "continuously" being in rooms that you yourself acknowledge don't belong'. Fine. I accept that. But then why did your mods say that I could just leave a message and be there to investigate? You all really do need to get on the same page, because I was told one thing, and now I am being told another thing. THAT is my qualm, not something about "ethnicity" or "outrage". It's over the lack of consistency, which absolutely did seem to extend to keeping those rooms closed.

I understand you are all volunteers, and I empathize with your situation especially post-election, but I do not think this was handled well at all.

Announcing why you are in a room doesn't automatically mean you won't be removed from that room.
You have made multiple claims that the information I have does not verify.
You just posted a screenshot of you posting why you were in a room.
This does not vindicate you, it merely indicates that you were in fact in rooms we close regularly when moderators are online.
Which you even clearly state is fine and you accept.
Please indicate what mods you spoke to and please feel encouraged to provide the screenshots that you mentioned before.

sounds like we are returning to the days of mad banning, mods are supposed to put up their grey stars but so far have only seen one do this, thought the site oqners had improved and enforced mod guidelines, obviously not

Hi Vikki, thanks for posting.
We have a Chat Moderator Office, posted rules, materials expounding upon those rules, as well as a chat moderator list, and continued interaction with people here. There is not a lack of engagement. This is, in fact, above and beyond what the site owners asked us to do.
Your profile shows limited engagement with the forum, and I'm uncertain how often you visit chat, as the phrasing of your post seems to indicate it has been some time, so it is well nigh impossible for me to speak to whatever experience you've had. I provided previous context in this very thread that expanded upon the issue at hand. Could you indicate why it "sounds like" that is a thing?
It's also important to recognise experience bias and fallacies of perception. It is the nature of things that folks don't often show up here to pat us on the back.
When we have hundreds of users per day, and we have a hand full of people unhappy, who were still provided details and context for the issue they had in chat, I'd offer that that is a pretty even trade off.
I'd also direct anyone who would like, to read the Terms of Service for Literotica.
These exchanges, and the platform to vent frustration, ask for clarification, etc. ? None of this is required of us.
It's clearly stated, in fact, that we can remove anyone for any reason at all - a thing we're actually quite careful not to do. Our biggest and most vocal detractors are peopl who have made dozens upon dozens of accounts to regain access to the chat services they disdain so much, because they keep getting removed, without considering the continued behaviors that result in their removal, or just choosing not to care.
Alas.
