Boston will get Season Two of Downton Abbey in January. We are lucky that BBC America did not hog all of the good shows, for itself.

Yes, it is true. Some Friendly cafes will be closed forever.
Footage of closed signs. Waitresses and soda jerks refusing to talk.
Ice cream window closed.
Pink slips. No, not the bill for the food! A go-find another- job at another place slip!
No, really. They told the workers to go find a job somewhere else, down the road!

Friendly Ice Cream Corp., the troubled family restaurant chain that was a casualty of a tough economy
and changing customer preferences, said it closed 63 of its nearly 500 locations as it looks to reorganize under
Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Boston's version of Occupy Wall Street has entered the fray.
100 people arrested.
The Boston Globe's New York owners are slanting the news,
to make the Boston police look good to the public.
Last night, whdh TV Boston was not certain if the police
would be kicking the protesters out of the second location.
$150,000.00 had been spent on the small park for renovations.
The park is now surrounded with steel barriers.
This raid could not have happened without Mayor Menino's orders.

"Following this massive outpouring of public support, dozens of police vans descended on the Greenway,
with batons drawn, assaulting protesters and arresting more than one-hundred people. Members of Veterans
for Peace carrying American flags were pushed to the ground and their flags trampled as the police hauled
them away."

http://occupyboston.com/

The Boston Police learned well from the New York arrests.
The protesters received brutal and rough treatment during the arrests.

The younglings should have been warned- The Boston Police killed a girl,
and ruined a boys face and mind, back in 2004.

Occupy Wall Street was such a yawn to the main Boston TV stations. They did not bother to mention anything about it.

Today they are yelping the news about Occupy Boston, loud and clear like bloodhounds.

This whole collection of events stinks like "Whitey" Bulger and a rotting fish sprayed by a skunk.

Brandon Darby, the egomaniac did not have a stink that was this disgusting.

When the Boston police killed A 21-year-old female Emerson College student-
they showed themselves for what they are, in the court of law.

Occupy Boston suffered brutal attacks after the Boston Police Department was hacked.

The Boston Police Patrolmen's Association Saturday confirmed the passwords and user names of 1,000 BPD officers had been made public.

Someone saw fit to post the name and home address of a man believed to be a Boston police captain on the internet.

Why would they post the wrong address?

The family living there has the same name as the captain being targeted.

Who placed a wooden cross on the property of the blameless family?

It gave the Boston Police Department's The Community Disorders Unit an excuse to step in.

Why would the Boston police want to investigate a hate crime?

Because all the gloves are off, after the Boston Police get permission to go ahead.

I trust Anonymous not to be this brainless. I trust Occupy Boston.

The Boston Globe has been fair and even handed.

http://www.boston.com/Boston/metrod...6P6bVbeITamG3J2u8JyN/index.html?p1=News_links

The Department’s Community Disorders Unit (CDU), which is based in the Office of the Police Commissioner, is responsible for the coordination of the Department’s investigative activities relating to reported bias motivated criminal incidents, also known as "community disorders," within the city of Boston.

The Police Commissioner’s special order that created the CDU established departmental policy regarding the handling of community disorders, and outlined procedures to be utilized in the identification, classification and investigations of such incidents. The purpose of the CDU is to reinforce the department’s policy that all citizens, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, disability or sexual orientation can be free of violence, threats, or harassment in living, working, worshipping and traveling throughout any neighborhood in Boston.

A community disorder is defined as a conflict which disturbs the peace, and infringes upon a citizen’s right to be free from violence, threats or harassment and intimidation. These disorders can be classified into the following two areas:

* All crimes that are committed where there is evidence to support that the victim(s) were selected on account of their gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, handicap, or incidents and situations precipitated by bias motives.

* All incidents and situations where there are concerted efforts by a person or group of persons to deprive any other person(s) of free access to any neighborhood or community within the city, or any right secured under the U.S. or State Constitution or provided by statute.

The CDU duties include:

* Monitoring, reviewing, and coordinating the department’s response and investigative efforts concerning possible civil rights violations.

* Analyzing patterns of hate and bias motivated conflicts in Boston’s neighborhoods. CDU detectives meet with neighborhood groups and leaders to discuss public safety problems and provide counseling and/or referrals for victims of violence or harassment.

* Developing strategies to prevent future acts of violence and harassment.

* Conducting civil rights training for police officers, prosecuting attorneys, housing authority employees and tenants.

whdh TV airs the recording-
The teen is heard asking why they are planning to use pepper spray on his friend- being arrested by the BPD.
A policeman is heard saying "This one is going. too." The policeman is heard shouting for handcuffs.

The teen was beaten when he was at the Boston Police Department.
Why? Because he chose to speak out. Because he was a witness.
Because he used his cell phone to record what the police were doing.

Paulino originally went to the city police station in Roxbury to bail out a friend, according to his lawyers,
Howard Friedman and David Milton. The friend acted belligerently as he was being released and
exchanged heated words with one officer.

Paulino started recording when officers allegedly started mistreating the friend outside the station.
He was charged with violating the state wiretapping laws. He also was charged with resisting arrest,
disorderly conduct and assault
and battery on a police officer.

"The training bulletin created for officers in summary reinforces that public and open recordings is allowed under
the wire tape statute. There is no right of arrest for public and open recordings under this statute."

"He was arrested and beaten because he was using his cell phone to record Boston police officers," said Friedman.

The illegal wiretapping charge was dismissed by a clerk magistrate; Paulino was acquitted of all other charges at trial.

"It does seem these police officers feel that they have a right to tell someone to stop recording them, and if the
person doesn't do that, they can be arrested. That's not correct," said Friedman.

For every scam, there is a target?

11/03/2011

".... the men struck up conversations with people who bore obvious signs of wealth, such as expensive cars.
They would then convince their victims they could use their own money to spark a chemical process that
would remove black ink from the blocks of paper, to reveal US currency."

"The con men told their victims the money was blackened so it could be smuggled into the US."

"The suspects met one Fall River, Mass. man at a downtown Providence hotel and allegedly managed to steal from him $100,000."

{gsgs comment- steal? The man was taking part in an illegal activity.}

"Authorities have been investigating for at least a year a large ring that uses the so-called “black money”
in their deception, and are seeking to make more arrests throughout New England."

“The problem we’re having is that most victims are not coming forward because they’re embarrassed,” Powers said.

Another kind of crook-

“Here’s someone whose publicly funded salary is close to the US President’s for managing 1,415 apartments,
while the President manages the leading country of the free world,’’ Grassley said in e-mail.

Last night, McLaughlin continued to insist that “I more than earned my salary,’’ which is almost twice as large
as that of his counterpart in New York City, but said he was wrong to not report the full amount to the state.

The Globe reported Sunday that McLaughlin had told state housing officials he made only $160,000, less than half his true salary,
something he chalked up to “the rebel in me.’’

McLaughlin is preparing to retire and collect perhaps the largest pension in Massachusetts history.
Based on his total compensation and years of service, McLaughlin could qualify for a pension of $278,842 for life.

Federal housing officials said that they provided almost $8.6 million this year to Chelsea, accounting for
more than half of the housing authority’s $15 million in annual revenues. According to financial records
provided the state by the agency, the Chelsea Housing Authority ran a small deficit last year.

Contrast
People living in the slums of Chelsea, living in poverty

Compare pay packages-
McLaughlin is being paid- $360,000.00 for managing 1, 415 apartments.
("....the salary he reported on state filings, $160,000.")

2011 salary for new hire- $82,100.00 to $85,158.00 a year.

"....yesterday, the state inspector general urged retirement officials to slash McLaughlin’s pension by more than half,
saying the state never approved the $360,000 in pay that the benefit would be based on."

"If pension officials follow Sullivan’s recommendation, McLaughlin’s annual pension would be about $127,000 a year,
instead of $279,000, which would have made McLaughlin by far the highest paid pensioner in Massachusetts history."

"After McLaughlin’s nearly 50-year career in public service, he would be eligible for 80 percent of his average salary."

On Wednesday, Governor Deval Patrick demanded McLaughlin’s resignation.

“Here we are flat-funding public housing, trying to hold on through the worst economy
in living memory, and not only is the executive director feathering his nest, but he’s
misrepresenting to us what he’s doing,’’ Governor Deval Patrick said in an interview.

Yesterday, McLaughlin officially submitted his resignation, effective immediately, in a short letter to his board.

Pure Gall of the Shameless

Executive Director for the Chelsea Housing Authority
Michael E. McLaughlin
November 7, 2011

McLaughlin lied. McLaughlin got caught. McLaughlin officially submitted his resignation.

McLaughlin caused another uproar on his final day on the job, ordering an office accountant
to cut him three checks worth more than $200,000 for unused vacation time and other perks.

State officials ordered the authority to stop payments on the checks. He had already cashed one,
for more than $80,000, and they have pledged to try to recoup that sum.

McLaughlin found plenty of money for himself and his pals.

McLaughlin had no money for the buildings he was hired to manage.

McLaughlin's enormous and outrageous salary was paid for with funds
that were meant for building repair, building maintenance, and upkeep?
Snow and ice removal. Cleaning? Services? Garbage and trash removal?
Heat? Electric power? Air conditioning?

McLaughlin used 1, 415 apartments to commit fraud?

McLaughlin squeezed money out of the people who rented the housing.

McLaughlin bullied and accused the renters of what he, himself was doing.

McLaughlin lived like a king. The tenants lived in neglected slums and got none of the services they paid for.

Robert Donovan- One of the five board members who approve the director’s salary.
Robert Donovan resigned.

Zuckerberg returns to Hogwarts. oops- I meant Harvard.

November 7, 2011

Zuckerberg has been whining about moving out of the Cambridge area.
Was Zuckerberg fishing for advance publicity? A little media buzz?
Today he was fishing for new talent at Boston area colleges.

Why quote two female students from Harvard and MIT ?

http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/29699965/detail.html

Does somebody at the network want Zuckerberg's stock to look good?

Would those two young woman gush about Zuckerberg if they
knew about his policy about rape threats and sexism?

Why did Zuckerberg change the Rape page at Facebook ?

The rape page was still up November 3rd 2011.

Zuckerberg did not make an announcement about changing Facebook-

Here is the announcement defending the Rape page-

"It is very important to point out that what one person finds offensive another can find entertaining,
just as telling a rude joke won't get you thrown out of your local pub, it won't get you thrown off
Facebook," a statement said.

(Who was the spokesman who gave the statement?)

Everything about the Rape page violated Facebook's Terms of Service agreement-
"You will not post content that: is hateful, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence;
"contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence."
"content that is “hateful, threatening,” or contains “graphic or gratuitous violence”
" content that aims to “bully, intimidate, or harass” any user."

Female human beings are not Facebook users? Sexual violence is OK with Facebook?

Did Zuckerberg expect his young female future employees from Cambridge
to accept his "let the boys be 4Chan" attitude?

Someone must have let him know that garbage would not fly in Cambridge.

Zuckerberg did not remove the Rape page when major advertisers objected.

Zuckerberg did notremove the Rape page when 187,624 people petitioned.

Zuckerberg did not remove the Rape page after 2 months of complaints on the internet.

The California news outlets picked up on the rape page story.

Zuckerberg came East because there is a shitstorm in California over this?

A new month, and November print magazines are covering the story-

http://www.msmagazine.com/blog/blog...logy-facebook-quietly-removes-rape-joke-pages

http://www.utne.com/Media/Facebook-Defends-Rape-Jokes.aspx

Facebook (and Zuckerberg?) new message (What happened to freedom for 4Chan?)

"There is no place on Facebook for content that is hateful, threatening, or incites violence,
and we encourage users to report pages, posts or users who violate our Statement of Rights
and Responsibilities. Reporting is the best way to surface hateful content for review by our
multi-lingual team, who will promptly remove content that violates our terms. We take reports
of questionable and offensive content very seriously, which is why, in addition to our usual
reporting links which are found on every page of the service, we have invested in
giving people even more control over how they report things on Facebook with the social
reporting tool."

In 1988, the company was bought by Donald N. Smith,

The company went public in 1997 at $18 a share and was bought

Friendly’s gets OK for asset auction

WILMINGTON, Del. - Friendly Ice Cream Corp.-
the 76-year-old restaurant chain known for its ice cream and hamburgers,
won US Bankruptcy Court approval of guidelines that will govern the auction
of virtually all its assets.

The company reached an agreement with an affiliate of its current owner,
the private equity firm Sun Capital Partners Inc., that will set the floor for
bids at the auction, according to court documents.

The Wilbraham, Mass.-based company, commonly known as Friendly’s,
closed 63 restaurants as part of the bankruptcy filing.
Another 424 will stay open, the company said.

Potential buyers will have to offer about $75 million in cash to qualify for the auction.
Bidders were originally told they would have to put up $122.6 million.

1976 February 2 The Groundhog Day Storm

A quick moving but extremely intense coastal storm struck New England. Wind gusts exceeded 115 mph
at Bear Island and Southwest Harbor, ME. Chatham, MA recorded a wind gustto 98 mph. Caribou, ME
set a new all-time record low pressure of 957 millibars or 28.26 inHg and -

Boston, MA recorded their second lowest pressure ever at 965 millibars or 28.48 inHg.

Tides 3 to 5 feet above normal caused extensive coastal flooding.
Parts of Bangor, ME were under 12 feet of water as a storm surge funneled up the Penobscot
River to the mouth of the Kenduskeag Stream which in turn inundated Bangor in a matter
of 15 minutes.

A 40 to 50 degree temperature drop followed a sharp cold front with blizzard conditions
occurring over interior sections of New England for a few hours. 13 inches of snow fell at Danforth, ME.

Saint John, New Brunswick Canada and the area around the Bay of Fundy reported wind gusts to 118 mph
and wave heights up to 39 feet with swells to 32.5 feet.

Unforgettable event- the people trapped on the roof of a house washed out to sea.
So many houses washed out to sea. The seas were too rough to rescue them.

So cold. Brutal storm winds. Ice and snow. Up and down the coast.
What year? I can't remember if it was the 1990's or after.
That was the year of the worst coastal storm.

I had already forgotten that last year was the 75th birthday for Friendly's.
