What category would a bisexual story belong to? There doesn't seem to be a bi category on Lit, and I don't know why. I've written to Lit several times but haven't received a response yet. Can anyone help? Thanks!!

If the bisexual person is a woman, then you can pretty much put it in any category. Does it have an air of romance? ( Romance ) Is it just wild sex? ( Erotic Couplings ) Does she have a kink? ( Fetish )

If it's a male, you're in trouble. That's much harder to work with, although the same sort of category placement decisions apply. You just have to be prepared to do one of two things.

1) Accept dissapointed/nasty comments about including M/M sex anywhere outside the Gay Male category.

2) Spoil the story a little by putting a warning in an author's note at the very top of the story to ward away those who cringe when they read about two guys getting touchy-feelie.

If a woman is involved in any way, you also can't put it in the gay male category. The readership there would not appreciate that at all.

Hope that gives you a little information to wade through the often confusing waters of category placement on Lit.

And if you put any MMF or bi-male stories in Group, be prepared for low scores. Some of the readers don't appreciate it, at all.

The upfront warning in an author's note might stave that off, though. I've only used that twice, in Sci-Fi/Fantasy, but I actually received several appreciative notes about it.

There actually are readers who pay attention to those things, and appreciate it when you put up a few warning bells that keep them from stumbling across something that isn't their cup-o-tea.

Just stay out of Loving Wives. If you give them a warning, they'll read it just so they can trash you.

Yep. Stand warned that the Loving Wives category has large populations of the most hateful, vitriolic, unable-to-distinguish-fantasy-from-reality people you'll ever encounter.

You only post a LW story if you have skin as thick as a rhino encased in the finest chain mail. I've only ventured there once, and escaped with only minor wounds, but it sho ain't easy.

I'm dumb enough to be contemplating another foray into hostile territory, though *laugh*

What's weird is that my highest scoring story is in that category. They just love it when the protagonist defeats the bastard who's trying to steal his wife. I've said before that it should be broken into three categories: Cheating Wives, Loving Wives and Shared Wives. Personally, it's enough to make a man write Romances.

The logistics of doing that with the existing stories would be nearly impossible.

What they could do is turn the current incarnation of LW into an archive. The stories will still be there, and accessible in the same manner as they are now from the category list, but no new stories go into the archive.

From there, split the category up to try to divide those warring camps up and hopefully give each of them a place to find what they want.

A notation on the front page and the forum to authors could also tell them that they can put in an edit request to move their older stories to one of the newly created categories as well. Perhaps this could even be done in advance with a special form or something. That would allow any authors currently active to place their stories into the new categories with ease, filling them out so that they have plenty of content on "opening day"

Hmm... this probably should have been its own topic *laugh*

To the OP: If you can offer any more information about your story's plot, theme, characters, etc., I'm sure you'll get some more specific ideas about what category would best suit your story.

If it's a story with a straight man, a straight woman and a bi character, it's Group. If it's a bi woman and another woman, it's Lesbian, unless it's Toys. If it'a a bi man and another man, it's Gay Male. If it's two individuals of opposite sexes, it's E/C or Anal or Interracial or LW or whereever else fits.

If the character is a TS or CD. that has its own category.

If the character is CD? A plastic duck? :D That would just be fetish, wouldn't it? :D

No, that would be a special part of the Toy category. When a woman uses a plastic duckie as a dildo, that is a specific sub-category under the Toys and Masturbation group.

Does anybody else notice that this has been an afully fast threadjack, and an awfully extreme one. I mean, from bisexual stories to plastic duckies in 16 posts.

Actually, the plastic duckie made an appearance in post 10. He's a fast one, that duckie. :D

I'm impressed!! I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep (it's 2:30 AM here) and logged on thinking that maybe there might be a single reply, and look at this!! Thanks to everyone!!

It does apprear that my story wouldn't be welcome on Literotica. Maybe that's why no one from Literotica answered my emails - they were hoping I'd go away.

It also seems like having a bisex category would be the way to go. Then people who don't like them don't have to read them, and people who do like them can click on the category and find what they want. To me, it's simple, but oh well......

The story involves an older couple, M/F and a younger couple, M/F. Both the guys are bi, the young guy is a street hustler, his girlfriend doesn't know about that side of him, the older couple pays him to have sex with his girlfriend while they hide and watch, but they all wind up getting together, and the women encourage the guys to go to it in front of them.

Apparently, it won't work anywhere on Literotica, so I guess I'll look elsewhere. I do have a volunteer editor working on it, so when I hear from her, I'll ask her what she thinks, and then we'll see.

Thanks again to everyone for the info!!

I would give it a whirl in Group Sex, with an advisory note on top saying there's M/M in it as part of a group scene.

Emails to the Lit hierarchy rarely get answered, as they get lost in the mountains of spam those addresses receive.
It is best to use the Private Message system and send a pm to "Laurel". Laurel is one of the owners and the chief (if not only) story vetter.

That's definitely a story for the group category. :)

The people from Lit never answer e-mails of any kind.

If you want to get in touch with the people that run Lit send a Private Message (PM) to Laurel or Manu.

I've had a pretty hot idea for a non-consent story that involves simultaneous M/M and F/F, but have never written it because it just does not fit any category known to humans.

Actually, that sounds like it work fine, in the Group Sex category.

That's what I did with a MMF with bi sex. Actually, the story description let readers know before they even clicked it open.
