Besides SO useing a condom and the pill/shot or patch what are some other forms of birth control you ladies have been happy with? Cervical cap? Diaphram? etc..

the diaphragm is nice, i don't know if you mentioned depo-provera (the shot), there's also a spermicide cream that you can buy. it comes in a tampon-like applicator and you inject it deep into the vagina to keep sperm from going too far in.

The best birth control is the most effective. No birth control is 100% fool proof (with the exception of abstinence and sterilization), however, hormonal bc methods (the pill, patch, depo, etc - used correctly) and the IUD are most effective. I have a lot more fun in the bedroom when i'm not thinking about pregnancy, a condom breaking, or that spermicide only being 87% effective.

Abstinence

Old age, Impotence, Money (Lack of), Ugliness, Being out of shape, Oral-only policy, Anger, Depression, Getting "Fixed", Staying away from alcohol or drugs that can lower your inhibitions, spending 12 hours a day on Lit when you could be out socializing, and more.
All have worked well for me at some point.

the best birth control in the whole world is for a woman to point at a naked man's penis, cup her other hand over her mouth and laugh her ass off.

i can't get it up for days after this happens.

Speaking of birth control. I've not been on it in 6 months, and really need to get my ass back on it SOON before I become sexually active again.

I was wondering what everyones take was on the patch or shot. I heard on the patch its only for women at a certain weight? Is that true? And does the shot work? I heard that makes ya moody as hell and then ya get a period for a month -- Doesn't sound so peachy to me.

What's everyone elses take on this?

Blowjobs work well for birth control, and for her eating her pussy.Anal sex works well too.

Ugh. I just got back on birth control (the pill) after being off it for about a year. I followed the instructions like normal, but actually had my period for the duration of the entire first pack of pills - that's right, one full month of ick. I started pack #2 this morning, and I'm praying that my body gets back to normal now.

I've heard the shot works well - but I've also known two women who got malignant cysts on their cervixes after being on it for more than 5 years. As for the patch - I just wouldn't trust it. I'd be too nervous about relying on something external.

I believe the patch is less effective for those over 150lb (over 200lb and many doctors won't even perscribe it). Then again I'm running on less then 3 hours of sleep and worked 16 hours so my dead brain could have the numbers wrong...

No, your right. I knew there was a weight limit, I just didn't know how much. It so wouldn't work on me! Damn it! However, I dunno how I feel about using the patch for this.....

I'll probably just do that. I've not been ok'ed to go back to swallowing pills yet. I had gastric bypass surgery 6 months ago but I don't think that baby pill would be a problem.

My biggest thing is having to go to that doctor for it. ugh.

Maybe I should go another 6 months without sex? LOL (Hopefully, Aphil didn't read this... haha... )

But the shot - I heard of women having that problem. And that can't be good either. I guess ya can't win for lossing....

bc

I have been on the shot and I know that all womens bodies are different but had the worst experience. It did make me moody at first and I spotted for weeks after the first injection. It did get better and my period stopped. But every injection was different, at one time I spotted for three months:( . So I never went back to get another. The pill has always worked best for me, though I'm not good at taking them at the same time. They have been the most reliable without undesirable side effects.

I've heard very few people praising the shot, and lots of horror stories. I think it's worth it if you really can't remember to take that pill, but I've always done fine with a low dose pill. Plus, I like having the ability to stop taking it anytime and having my body return to normal relatively quickly. We've been using the pill and condoms (extra insurance) for years.

Virgin So Far, again I'll recommend going to http://www.plannedparenthood.org and visiting your local clinic...they will help you decide what the best method is for you and your SO.

I first started taking birth control pills when I was 14.
I quickly gained weight, had mood swings and it even made it dificult to get aroused.

I went on and off it for years untill I finally decided that I would never ever put my body through something like that again.

So, for the last 5 years we haven't been using anything.
Wich is perfect when you are in a relationship and if you know your body and your menstrual sycle.

In the beginning I was temping and was ( ewww, kinda grose) checking the texture of my vaginal saliva.
When I'm close to ovulation we either obstain or trust his ability to pull out before he cums.

And I guess it's working.
We used the same method when we tried to conceive.
And after 2 months I was knocked up.

As for the mood swings and weight gain associated with the pill - there are literally hundreds of different pills, each with their own unique combination of hormones and, thus, their own side effects. I can't recommend talking to your doctor or local family planning clinic enough - Planned Parenthood's website is very informative, and a great place to start your research about what's out there and how effective it can be. http://www.plannedparenthood.org/bc/cchoices.html
