Ladies, I want to know what kind of birth control you use. Strictly for research purposes and to get experienced opinions!
Guys! Please do not answer the poll, I want women only. However feel free to post what you prefer a women to use!

I use the pill and a condom. I have full faith in the pill as a method of birth control, but I also use a condom for disease prevention. So technically, the condom isn't birth control in this case, but there you go. :)

Ok, to add another point, as Pyper said she uses condoms for disease prevention. Include that in with birth control.
Also another question. Why do you use that particular birth control.

(If you chose other, please explain)

I use the pill. If I was not married or in a commited relationship I would be using condums as well.

Sorry that was me......... aughhhhhhh I keep doing that. Anyway I use the pill b/c it is sooooooo conveinent. No stopping mid act etc.. Plus it also makes my period almost nonexistant and I know EXACTALY when it is coming.

In my marriage, we use none, because I can't carry to term so far, and I am not getting any younger.

If I wern't married and was whoring about, I would use all of the above.

Just the Pill, but I'm in a way committed monogamous relationship. If that weren't so, I'd probably use a condom as well.

I don't use birth control anymore prior to my husband being sterile we used condoms.

with ex i used just b/c pills.
Now that I'm single again, the next time I'll be using condoms until I know that we're a monogamous couple and both disease free. It's just too risky not to use them without knowing your partners history.
I prefer just using the pill though. It's worked for me for the since 1996.

I used condoms and spermicide. Condoms for disease prevention/birth control and spermicide as a back-up birth control. I tried the pill but it made me nauseous, although I did like the benefits of knowing when my period was going to show up and the fact that it was MUCH lighter. I may try again, who knows.

I love knowing when my period will show up too. There are so many different pills out there. Talk with your Dr/Gyno about your previous pill experience. Maybe the dosage was too high and you could try a lighter dose pill. Also, there is usually an adjustment period for those beginning the pill and it sometimes includes nauseau.

I had my tubes tied before i left the hospital after my little guy was born; i *knew* that, no matter what, i was done having kids. Therefore, i need no birth control.

Prior to that, i used condoms (well, not me personally, but you know what i mean) and a diaphragm. Before the diaphragm, i used an IUD, but docs don't seem to like those anyomore (can anyone say "class action lawsuit", boys and girls?) so i had to switch to a diaphragm cuz i cannot handle the pill and still be anything closer to a normal, rational human being.

I **LOVE**, in an intense way, not having to use anything these days.

Before I was married I used all of those, if I wasn't over 30, and a smoker, I'd say the pill was the best. I've been using a combination of withdrawal and rhythm for nine years successfully, but I'm pushing for the big snip. :)

The pill that she gave me was a low dose and I took it for several months, I may have given up to soon. I also worry about putting chemicals in my body and telling it to not do something. There is so much conflicting evidence out there it's hard to know who or what to believe.

The reason I'm asking is that I want to be prepared and informed.
I am a virgin and there is no guy in my life right now to be worrying about right now. However, you never know when you'll meet that guy! I'm leaning towards the pill right now (which I would use with condoms). Just because of the ability to control your periods.

I got on the Pill at 15 partly because I had enormously long and painful periods. I've been on ever since and had no trouble. My periods are not near what they were - my cramping is minimal, and they only last 3-4 days. I changed dosages here and there until I found the one that didn't mess with my moods. I highly recommend it. It rocks.

thanx for starting this thread hun... i kind of have a man in my life and we arent talking about sex yet... but i'm sure we will eventually.. and being a virgin as well... i find this very helpful.. especially since i dont know who else to ask on this for decent responses

Your welcome Willing! :D
Glad I helped!

Thanks to all the people who answered and all of the people who may answer while I'm away. I must go to sleep right now, but I'll check back in the morning!

Pill only....

Prior to being married, we used Pill and condom, but after the fear of having kids at a REALLY bad time went away, we ditched the condom. Still on the pill and no "surprises", so we probably would have been okay....but you can never be too safe.....

It isn't chemicals in low dose bcp, it is just natural hormomes that your body makes anyway! At least that's the way I think of them.
I like low dose bcp- easy to use and they do regulate my period and make it so much lighter than normal.

I use both condoms and the Pill, the Pill to regulate my totally psychotic period (three times a month??? Puh-leeeeeze). While I was in a commited monogamous relationship we went with just the Pill, discovered that I had some problems and that if I didn't try getting pregnant, I likely never would, so I went off the Pill for 8 months. It was a living nightmare. Needless to say I went back on the Pill, have since broken up with the guy, and now use condoms as a back up for b/c and also for disease protection...on the rare occasions that I actually do have sex that is. :D

I voted other because I have my tubes tied, before that I used a diaphram lol not successfully since I have 3 kids instead of two lol but hey I love her

I also had my tubes tied after my youngest was born 2 years ago. From 1989-1994 I used nothing because Iwas trying to get pregnant, and finally in 1994 I did. Before that it was always the pill to combat unwanted pregnancy and a condom to combat unwanted disease. If you choose the pill, work with your doctor to make sure the dose is right for you. I went through 3 different ones before finding what was right for me.

Another point...Don't count on your partner having a condom.

I didn't vote cause they won't let me.

But I haven't had sex yet so I don't need any birth control
