Bipartisan Bills for Ukraine and Israel passes House!

After being held hostage by extremist Marjorie Taylor Greene and the House Freedumb Committee, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson did something he said he'd NEVER do, bypass arcane "House Rulez" and split the foreign aid bill into four separate votes:

• One for Ukraine Aid
• One for Israeli Aid
• One for Taiwanese Aid
• and one for "errything else" including a ban on TikTok

In return, the Democrats in the House did something they said they'd NEVER do, and banded together with most Republicans to pass both the Ukranian bill and Israeli bills.

Votes pending on the other two bills.

It's 2024 and parties are putting Country before Party? How is this possible? (The action greatly helped Republicans who are in tough reelection campaigns).

I think this was more of an "incumbent protection" vote than a "Let's do what's best for America vote". By voting with the Republicans, Democrats weakened the chance of Dem challengers in competitive districts to run on "can't get anything done" campaign. Republicans I think wanted to show independence from the orange dictator's whims.

He benefitted for three election cycles of having one of the most horribly gerrymandered districts in Congress (the old money GHW Bush First District in downtown Houston for money, then snaking up a country road to trailer park MAGA trash country in Conroe for votes). That's all gone now and he's got a competitive race. He's moderated his extremism somewhat and Republicans ain't havin' none of that shit, nossir! Even "I'm a goddam Navy Seal who lost a fucking eye in Iraq!" doesn't matter to these goosesteppers, most of whom were too obese to join the military.

The latest "republican” weaker of the house could have put the comprehensive senate bill (or a SLIGHTLY modified house version) up for a vote: A bill which also included needed immigration reforms and border security funding.

Of course, that ^ would have upset the corrupt orange traitor and traitorous MAGAt "republicans” who want to keep the immigration and border security problems as a campaign issue, and are achieving their goal by blocking / sabotaging efforts / solutions to address the problems.



Now the "republicans" will CONTINUE to TRY to gaslight Americans about immigration and border security, and TRY to blame President Biden and Democrats for not doing anything about the issues.
